I very much enjoyed this short revealing memoir, as well as hearing it read by the author.

I like this genre and this story caught my interest right away and I found it interesting and will follow up with the rest of the series.

I read a negative review of the narrator, but personally I really liked her clear cadence because I felt as if she were simply reading the story to me in an easy to follow manner so I was able to imagine the characters myself.

What did you love best about Anansi Boys?

This was a wonderful magical story as all of Neil Gaiman's stories are. A bit slow at the beginning, but no matter, it began to captivate very soon. It had adventure and danger with interesting twists and turns. I loved the dip into mythology. Mythology is somehow satisfying to the inner being!

What does Lenny Henry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is an amazing narrator who did more than justice to the characters and implications of the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Magic and Mayham

Any additional comments?

I loved this book.

Would you listen to Gregor and the Code of Claw again? Why?

I don't know if I'd listen again, but the books are among my favorites now. You are drawn in book by book, until the meaning of them is slowly clear. In most fantasy especially for a young audience, everything is solved at the end. Not so here. This story is a profound anti-war story that left me deeply moved.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Too many favorites. But I will remember many of them forever, and wish there was some way to know what happens afterward. But that is the underlying theme. Lives are ruined in wars, life goes on anyway.

Have you listened to any of Paul Boehmer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending was wrenching.

Any additional comments?

The characters were so well drawn and unforgettable, I feel I know them.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd recommend it but not to everyone. I like mysteries with women detectives but not everyone does. This series grew on me. I purchased the first one because it was on sale and enjoyed it though I thought the characters were a bit stereotypical. But by the third book, the author had fleshed out the sisters very well, defining them as real people with some history and points of view. The plots themselves are not predictable and they were solved with intelligence. I also enjoy the addition of new characters and animals.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

The narration was mostly okay, sometimes uneven but okay.

What did you love best about Legendarium?

Totally unexpected angle, with great imagination. Two authors must save the world together in a possible alternate universe, which might even exist. Both authors are intelligent and brave Smart Alecks.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Legendarium?

When they realized what they needed to do in order to fulfill their mission, and the ending was so loving and tasty.

Which character – as performed by Robert Rossmann – was your favorite?

Both. And, the narration was perfect.

Would you consider the audio edition of Adventurers Wanted, Book 3 to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version. I've enjoyed the story, which is clearly written for a younger audience, but still with a very good and imaginative story. But I really had a hard time listening to the narration as every time E.B. Stevens spoke for the main character, he stuttered a bit, or hesitated, or sounded as if he wanted him to sound humble. It drove me crazy, like waiting for a drop of water to fall on my mind. I don't think I can finish listening although I did deal with it in the first two....but can't overlook it this time.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh yes I would recommend this book although I realize not everyone loves fantasy. But if you do, it's perfect.
I have so enjoyed this book....the sort of fantasy I loved when I was younger, but obviously I haven't outgrown a great story. The magical world of wizards, heroes, villains, elves, etc. Not a bit corny, all the characters are believable and memorable.

What other book might you compare Theft of Swords to and why?

Have to classify it with Tolkien, The Narnia books, Harry Potter.

Which scene was your favorite?

I had more than one favorite, but the ending, though somewhat predicable, is compelling.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Epic Fantasy of the Highest Order.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to begin listening to the second book, Rise of Empire and then the third book. I'm already sorry it will have to end after that.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Shot in the Bark to be better than the print version?

No

What other book might you compare A Shot in the Bark to and why?

The story was not a problem, I enjoyed it well enough, but no comparison comes to mind.

How could the performance have been better?

Her characters were inconsistent and her attempt at being diabolic when reading the murderer almost made me want to stop listening.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the author's obvious love of dogs, as well as her knowledge of dog behavior.

Where does Yes, Chef rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the top 10.

What did you like best about this story?

I have been a fan of Chef Marcus for a while anyway. I found his story extremely interesting and so heartfelt and honest.

What does Marcus Samuelsson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Personally I loved his reading it himself. It made it very personal and I intimate, I doubt anyone else could have read it better.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was simply immersed in his story and very interested to learn about both of his families and all the help and attention he brings to his original people. I also loved his relationship with his adopted family and their strength and warmth.

Any additional comments?

Loved his attention to food, and food fusion. I made the spice mixture myself and have become interested in Ethiopian food.
