Historia
My title explains itself. But it's misleading. There are more than 40 reasons. Each of my reasons is an independent point, so I have not organized this book by a succession of chapters or headings. After all, most people only remember a few big ideas or separate points after reading or listening to a book. I've never heard anyone say "Oh, that was a good continuous-process-of-logically-ordered-argumentation" but I've often heard people say, "Oh, that was a good point." And back to my main point: "Why are you a Catholic?" is a good question. A good question deserves a good answer.

Simple yet insightful
Revisado: 01-30-24
I liked this book much more than I expected. It’s simple and straightforward yet somehow quite profound. I have listened to it several times and always gained new insight. It’s comforting to listen to at the end of the day before bed or when I need quiet time to relax.

When Poppy Perkins decides to talk back to a customer who thinks it’s okay to scream at her over donuts, Poppy knows she’s going to get fired. But what she doesn’t expect is for the customer to be a local celebrity, and for a video of their interaction to go viral—or for the customer to drop dead five minutes later, poisoned by the donut Poppy had just served him.

A bit silly but fun
Revisado: 05-16-23
Low stress novel that’s entertaining and fun. It’s predictable at times but was still quite enjoyable. (My only complaint is the numerous grammar mistakes. Who edits books these days? Yes, they are mostly in the dialogue so it *could* be intentional.. But over and over again characters uttered “I wish I was… “ instead of “I wish I were.. “ or “If I was ..” rather than “If I were… “ I couldn’t stop cringing. This book could really use a proofreader who knows grammar!) But overall I enjoyed this Audible experience.

Seemed Hokey
Revisado: 05-05-21
I bought this book when it was a Daily Deal because of the good reviews. I’m glad I didn’t use a credit. The dialogue was ridiculously hokey and just not believable. In fact, the whole story seemed to be lacking something. Not really what I expected at all. I don’t think I’ll be listening or reading anything from this author again.

Historia
One late spring evening in 2010, Shannan Gilbert - after running through the oceanfront community of Oak Beach screaming for her life - went missing. No one who had heard of her disappearance thought much about what had happened to the 24-year-old: She was a Craigslist escort who had been fleeing a scene - of what, no one could be sure. The Suffolk County police, too, seemed to have paid little attention - until seven months later, when an unexpected discovery in a bramble alongside a nearby highway turned up four bodies, all evenly spaced, all wrapped in burlap.

Well researched - but lacking and convoluted
Revisado: 01-13-20
The author obviously did a very good job of researching the book - and you know from the start that they don’t find the killer - but it just seemed like something was missing. There were SO MANY characters and the story jumped around a lot. It might have been easier to follow along when reading the actual book.. but with the audio version it wasn’t always clear which victim’s life story the narrator was describing. I had to rewind several times. . Overall not bad, but not as good as I’d hoped.

My Favorite
Revisado: 09-01-19
I love Dick Francis.. but To the Hilt is my favorite. I read it for the first time nearly 20 years ago and longed to read it again. Simon Prebble's narration made the book even better the second time around. If you like Dick Francis this one is a must listen.. and if you haven't read any of his books give this one a try first. I can guarantee you wont be disappointed. Fantastic!

Outstanding
Revisado: 03-05-19
I've always been a fan of Raymond Arroyo's work.. and now I'm an even bigger fan. The story was beautifully written and the narration was absolutely incredible. This audio book was so much better than I ever imagined. I expected it to be a bit dry, but still wanted to know the background of this amazing nun. Mother Angelica's life story is so captivating I'm telling everyone I know to read or listen to it. I'm going to make sure my children listen when they are a little older. The lessons of suffering and sacrifice for Christ are so important. Thank you, Raymond Arroyo, for writing this gem.

Catholic-Loved it!
Revisado: 02-22-19
I was looking for a book to help me find a way to get my kids to do chores and came across this book. It was wonderful! As faithful Catholic I related to the religious aspect of this book. I recommend it to all parents-especially those who tend to be “softies”. I really wish I would have read this book years ago when my children were younger. Outstanding advice.

Great Story
Revisado: 04-30-18
The story was wonderful and my daughter and I both loved it.. but it was hard for me to get past Peter Thomas’ narration. His voice is fantastic, but too familiar. He narrates “Forensic Files” and I kept waiting for something creepy to happen.
