Story
After a traffic stop turns violent at the hands of the police, a young Black teen grapples with racism—and what it means for his future. Critically acclaimed author Nic Stone boldly tackles America’s troubled history with race relations in her gripping debut novel. Justyce is a good kid, an honor student, and always there to help a friend—but none of that matters to the police officer who just put him in handcuffs without cause. When faced with injustice, Justyce looks to the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for answers. But do they hold up anymore?

Too Real
Reviewed: 11-11-21
Nic Stone's work is riveting. He captured these "situations" and wrote them in such a way that catapulted me back to personal "situations" of my own. The reason I gave a 4 star rating is because story smacks of realness that we black people cannot escape. It's a shame the same exact shit continues this very day!! Stone made Justyce and his friends so solid that I could interface them (foes) too with people I personally know and people that went out of their way to show their hatred unprovoked. I love his artistry.
Dion Graham, kudos to your narration! I enjoyed your voice too, thanks for adding even more realism to Nic Stone's work!!

I loved the characters, the plots and twists we're great. I wonder, was I the only one who smiled proudly when the kids discovered the light? The end was beautifully deserved. Thanks Mr. Dale you have a new fan!!

This book is awesome! Even though it has a self-speculating ending, I loved it. The length of time they were in a relationship was so surprising to me, it made my mouth drop straight open. I've recommended this book to 3 friends before I wrote my review!!

This book was so intensely well written! I listened for at least 10 hours straight, I could not stop, even well into the night. I resumed a couple hours later and completed it that same day. I love Michelle Obama and her family but, this book makes her realness shine even more brightly, as a diamond!

Story
Meet the Cooke family: Mother and Dad, brother Lowell, sister Fern, and Rosemary, who begins her story in the middle. She has her reasons. “I was raised with a chimpanzee”, she explains. “I tell you Fern was a chimp and already you aren’t thinking of her as my sister. But until Fern’s expulsion...she was my twin, my funhouse mirror, my whirlwind other half and I loved her as a sister”. As a child, Rosemary never stopped talking. Then, something happened, and Rosemary wrapped herself in silence.
