A personal perspective of a Titanic tale
Reviewed: 12-24-21
A wonderfully written story a young woman who is thrust into the Monumental world of one of the greatest historical figures of America. The author expertly transports you into a bygone era and allows you to experience life of this Brave young woman. The telling of the end of Jacob Astor's life was compelling. But the story and heart of this young woman will stay with you for a long time. The narration was done very well and it helped to pass the time.

Story
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

Amazing story of redemption, love, and grace.
Reviewed: 03-02-19
This story is a Masterpiece. One that weaves a story of the lives of two broken individuals who eventually find healing. But the journey is long and heart-breaking. The characters understandable as you peal back each scene and get a glimpse into the pain and suffering they endured as children. By the grace of God they survived, but are simply surviving. Day to day, they struggle with their choices and the consequences. Their motives make sense giving all that they've gone through. Yet, I found myself hurting for them and wanting them to change so they could have the lives they longed for. We see God working and changing their hearts and minds. In the end, they find the love they've longed for all their lives. Be sure to keep the tissue close by. The performance is stellar. With voice tone, inflection, even accents done well. This story will stick with me for a very long time.

Story
Come home to Hope Harbor - where hearts heal...and love blooms. Tracy Campbell never wanted to leave Hope Harbor, Oregon, or the idyllic three-generation cranberry farm where she grew up. But life - and love - altered her plans. Now she's home again - with a floundering farm to run...a tragic secret...and a wounded heart. Romance is not on her agenda. Nor is it on Michael Hunter's. The visitor from Chicago has daunting secrets and devastating regrets of his own.

Sweet love story of second chances
Reviewed: 02-02-19
Thuroughly enjoyed this sweet love story of second chances and reconciliation. The characters are wonderful and I love the Oregon coast setting. The performance was great with voice inflection so it was enjoyable to listen to. Even the voices, tones and accents were done very well. Don't be surprised it you need a few tissues toward the end.

Wonderful Trek back in time
Reviewed: 01-18-19
The first story in this compilation is a wonderful trek back in time to the Civil War era. The author did a terrific job of weaving in the hardships and realities of the war on every day life. The characters are rich and even the villains are believable in their motives. I understand this is the first of the books Karen White wrote and I can see why it got a publishers attention. Her voice is unique, her descriptions powerful, her characters deep. The narration of this story was superb. Voices were distinct and accents done well. This is a story that will stick with me. I'm afraid I wasn't able to get into the second story. Maybe the power of the first was still too strong to draw me in.

Captivating story - not your typical Time Travel
Reviewed: 01-14-19
This story was captivating and not your typical time travel. The villain was so believable. The story is sweet but has some tough scenes of domestic violence (PG13). The characters were rich and well rounded. I love how the author took three time periods and wove them together to the ending. I wish the author had another book available. Because she made a fan out of me.

If you love history this is a fun story
Reviewed: 01-10-19
The author did his research on the history of the Pacific Northwest in 1910. Fun story, with a twist in the end I did not see coming. Love that! The narrator was good, but I found his voice not all that suitable for female characters and a young man of 22. But it didn't reduce the enjoyment of the story as it clips along and keeps you guessing.

Captivating story that captures your imagination from the start. Immersed in details of the Pacific Northwest during prohibition. Would make a great TV movie the characters are so real. The narration was really good with the varying pitches and voices. I can't wait to check out more of Karen Barnett's books. Wendy Holley
