After nearly four years, the zombie epidemic has almost burned itself out. Once a lone survivor on the brink of insanity, Gus Berry has a new life on a communal farm, his daily routine of policing the fields only rarely disrupted by straying undead. Gus’s drinking binges are over, and the dark days of Annapolis are soon to be a distant memory. But his troubles are far from over . . .

compelling story/likable characters

I really enjoy R.C. Bray's performance and in anything he does. Keith Blackmore has also achieved a banger of a zombie series which is fun to listen to and consistently takes me in a direction I didn't expect.

I really enjoyed this story and found myself taking 'the long way" in my car to listen longer. I also really enjoyed R.C. Bray's performance to the point that I will search out his name before specific authors.

Story
When The Sandman, also known as Lord Morpheus - the immortal king of dreams, stories and the imagination - is pulled from his realm and imprisoned on Earth by a nefarious cult, he languishes for decades before finally escaping. Once free, he must retrieve the three “tools” that will restore his power and help him to rebuild his dominion, which has deteriorated in his absence.

Entertaining

Sometimes I had to relisten to certain parts because there was obviously some action taking place that wasn't immediately recognized by my brain. Most likely my fault for half listening or just being slow on the uptake.
I really did enjoy the stories and the voice acting/sound effects were top notch. It's definitely not for kids or people who aren't okay with the darker side of humanity.
Overall, 10/10 would recommend.

Story
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

I listened to this in my truck with my kids and we all loved it.
The last two stories are a little... dark. My 12 year old son thought they were "cool" but I don't think my 9 year old daughter would agree.
Overall all it is very engaging and often funny. Mr. Gaiman does a fantastic job reading his novel. 10/10 would recommend for anyone who likes a good story.
