I liked being surprised at every turn. I also enjoyed the visual images generated by the authors descriptions of scenery and inner thoughts.

Story
Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.

I loved this book!

I liked the author and his narration of his own book. A great reminder to always treat people with kindness, especially those working very hard to take care of you in hotel, restaurant or retail business. But, I learned not all “service” business or people do their jobs well. Always two sides to most everything. $$

On Harlow Street, the well-to-do neighborhood couples and their children gather for a catered barbecue as the summer winds down; drinks continue late into the night. Everything is fabulous until the picture-perfect hostess explodes in fury because her son disobeys her. Everyone at the party hears her exquisite veneer crack—loud and clear. Before long, that same young boy falls from his bedside window in the middle of the night. And then, his mother can only sit by her son’s hospital bed, where she refuses to speak to anyone, and his life hangs in the balance.

I disliked all the characters in this book. The pain, the need of all characters to find what they thought they each needed. I was compelled to finish just to find out how all ended. But it didn’t , the need, the pain and the misunderstandings that ruined lives seemed it would continue. Forever.

Story
“As Albert Einstein almost certainly never said, everyone is a genius—but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” So begins Katie Spalding’s spunky takedown of the Western canon, and how genius may not be as irrefutably great as we commonly understand. While most of us may never become Einstein, it may surprise you to learn that there’s probably a bunch of stuff you can do that Einstein couldn’t. And, as Spalding shows, the famous prodigies she explores here were quite odd by any definition.

I was so stunned by the immediate referral to definition of “woke”: appears to me this was added late late late in publishing
Reviewed: 11-26-22
Turned me from a fan to wonder why this great author had to bow to “woke” ? Not necessary I’m very disappointed. I really have no words to say how awful this early reference to a controversial and political explanation of “ woke” up set me. I want to read the words of the author, not his editors etc etc. very very disappointed.
