Story
In suburban Indiana we meet Lina, the homemaker and mother of two whose marriage, after a decade, has lost its passion. Starved for affection, Lina battles daily panic attacks and, after reconnecting with an old flame through social media, embarks on an affair that quickly becomes all-consuming. In North Dakota we meet Maggie, the 17-year-old high school student who allegedly has a clandestine physical relationship with her handsome, married English teacher; the ensuing criminal trial will turn their quiet community upside down.

The goodread reviews are more honest
Reviewed: 01-08-25
I’m not a book reviewer, but I will say that this book lacked substance. It romanticizes molestation and grooming. Absolutely no conclusions are made about female desire, and is actually a very narrow, male centered perspective of women’s desire. Read the goodread reviews. They are far more realistic than the comments here. This book was a huge miss.

Story
When Jezebel learns she can't be a king like her father simply because she’s a girl, she vows never to become someone’s decorative wife, nameless and lost to history. At fifteen she’s married off, despite her protests, to Prince Ahab of Israel. There, she does what she must to gain power and remake the dry and distant kingdom in the image of her beloved, prosperous seaside homeland of Tyre, beginning by building temples to the gods she grew up worshipping. As her initiatives usher in an era of prosperity for Israel, her new subjects love her, and her name rings through the land.

Similar vibe to “A Book of Longings”. I actually liked this better. It was so easy to love Jezebel. She’s a strong woman who just wants her story told.

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

At home they are just sisters, but on stage, they are The Salvations. Ruth, Esther, and Chloe have been singing and dancing in harmony since they could speak. Story
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

The ending felt incomplete and rushed
Reviewed: 12-13-20
The last few chapters of the book felt very rushed. The book’s ending also felt incomplete. I honestly checked to see if I had accidentally skipped ahead. It was disappointing because the author’s style of writing was very detailed, and I enjoyed listening to her intricate stories.

First of all, Obama’s voice is like a warm hug. I didn’t want this book to end because I’ve never felt so safe and comforted while listening to a book.
Second, some have criticized this book for its lack of brevity. However, I think he provides insightful details into the political environment and key figures surrounding his policies. He also shows how his own personal experiences shaped his mindset regarding politics and people.
I cannot wait for Part II to be released. I’m also buying this book for everyone in my family for Christmas.
