Story
The Kennedy name has long been synonymous with wealth, power, glamor, and—above all else—integrity. But this carefully constructed veneer hides a dark truth: the pattern of Kennedy men physically and psychologically abusing women and girls, leaving a trail of ruin and death in each generation’s wake. Through decades of scandal after scandal—from sexual assaults to reputational slander, suicides to manslaughter—the family and their defenders have kept the Kennedy brand intact.

Excellent narration of a story we know all too well. There were interesting incidents that I had never read before. Otherwise, it was the same old Kennedy stuff but told with more insight and style
Well done!

Story
A quarter of a century after the plane crash that claimed the lives of John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn, and her sister Lauren, the magnitude of this tragedy remains fresh. Yet, Carolyn is still an enigmatic figure, a woman whose life in the spotlight was besieged with misogyny and cruelty. Elizabeth Beller explores the real person behind the tabloid headlines and media frenzy. When she began dating America’s prince, Carolyn was increasingly thrust into an overwhelming spotlight filled with relentless paparazzi who reacted to her reserve with a campaign of harassment and vilification.

Inaccuracies leave room for doubt.
Reviewed: 08-15-24
The author portrays Carolyn as a saint. Perhaps she was. It appears that she wasn’t prepared for the media attention she received as the wife of JFK Jr. In any case, she didn’t deserve to be treated so horribly by trashy tabloid reporters.
Though Ms Beller repeatedly insists that Carolyn barely drank, she recounts a lot of nights out clubbing and drinking.
Every designer outfit she wore is mentioned in great detail, yet Carolyn was reportedly more comfortable in jeans and sweatshirts. Which was it - Chuck Taylors or Manolo Blahniks?
Despite all the research that must have gone into this book, it’s a shame that Ms Beller didn’t get the correct name of the airport in Hyannis. It is Barnstable Airport. No such thing as Hyannisport Airport, just as there is no Hyannisport Mall. It is called Cape Cod Mall. The author or editors should have done a better job of fact-checking such simple details. It leads me to believe that the more serious details of Ms Bessette Kennedy’s life were not thoroughly explored.

Story
Vermont, 1972. Carole LaPorte has a satisfying, ordinary life. She cares for her children, balances the books for the family's auto shop, and laughs when her husband slow dances her across the kitchen floor. Her tragic childhood might have happened to someone else. But now her mind is playing tricks on her. The accounts won't reconcile and the murmuring she hears isn't the television.

Well written story but a little chopped up. Well-drawn characters and a pretty accurate depiction of mental illness A few anachronisms (they didn’t have mini-vans in 1972! Station wagon would have been the better choice)
The narrator was excellent!

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

I admire Prince Harry’s courage and candor. He told his story honestly to the best of his recollection. I respect him for his bravery and vulnerability in sharing what must have been difficult memories to recount.
There were heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments in this autobiography of a modern day prince.
He and Meghan appear to be very kind and decent.
I wish them all the best.
