Story
Jewel ATerafin has never wanted to be a power, but to protect what she built, to protect what she values above all else, she has accepted that power is necessary. But with power comes responsibility. Jewel has forced herself to do what would have once been unthinkable: She has surrendered her den-kin, Carver, to the wilderness, because she must if she is to have any hope of saving the rest of her family, and the city in which they dwell. But she cannot leave him with nothing. Into his hands, she has placed the single, blue leaf that came from the wilderness and the dreaming combined.

good story but wordy
Reviewed: 03-15-19
I have been a fan of michelle's since sun sword 20 years ago, but I feel (for the past few books in particular) that she lacks a good editor. I love the characters, the complexity of the stories, the environments and ideas she brings life to, but there is a lot of redundancies in the dialogue. (I feel this is even more noticeable listening to the audiobook.) While I am generally not a fan of abridged versions, these stories could be much denser and more dynamic with a good editor.

Story
Mort, like many teenagers, is gangly, unpromising, and struggling with a menial job - in his case, as Death's apprentice. He can barely handle his simple task of ushering souls out of Discworld, but he really screws up when he meets the beautiful Princess Keli, who is scheduled to be assassinated. Going against his boss's wishes, Mort kills Keli's assassin instead, which angers and interferes with Fate. But Mort's heroism seems to be for naught, since Discworld proceeds as though Keli had been killed.

Story
Perelandra is a planet of pleasure, an unearthly, misty world of strange desires, sweet smells, and delicious tastes, where beasts are friendly and naked beauty is unashamed, a new Garden of Eden, where the story of the oldest temptation is enacted in an intriguingly new way.

Story
Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

interesting characters, complex plot, consistent
Reviewed: 12-12-17
Sanderson consistently weaves characters, environment, motives, and motion into his stories. because of the depth of his development some portions are lengthy but never dull or empty. the saddest part for me is having to wait for the next installment.
