I love the way Malcom offers us the choice of using the data to tell a story for good or evil. I wish we as humans did not so often tell the evil version because of the personal benefit.

The rest of us can learn from those (they are the few) to create a new overstory.

We’ve learned a lot since this was written, leading to the author sometimes sounding like the dot com bubble folks he uses as a cautionary tale.

Great information presented in a (with appropriate caveats) relatable and understandable way. Even better, once you know, you can apply the knowledge to make your life better.

The thing I love about Adam Grant is that he hands me the research studies to support the things my gut tells me. Thanks, Adam!

My experience with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists hasn’t been good. Too much focus on money, no concerns about people. So I wasn’t all that excited to read this book. I knew nothing about Matt - I don’t watch much TV, and “Shark Tank” never appealed to me.

So why read it? Because Matt messaged me out of the blue on Linked in and encouraged me to read it. And I told him I would.

My core values are courage and kindness. I measure my decisions and success by them. Early in the book I realized that Matt lives those values as well.

If you read just one “personal development” or “business” book this year, it should be “Burn the Boats.”

And Matt? Thank you for reaching out and telling me this was going to be my jam. It very much was. I’ve got a hard cover on the way to put on my bookshelf. Only books that are potentially life changing for folks go on that shelf.

Father Rohr reminds us that you cannot claim to be a Christian that follows Jesus while also holding on to nationalist ideas.
