Really enjoyed the third installment in the series! I went back to audio after reading the second because I like the narrator so much. In this one, Kari’s abusive ex husband shows up and she’s tossed into a murder suspect list once again, forced to prove her innocence- and solve yet another case for the sheriff! Wish there were more in the series so I could keep going.

The first book in the trilogy set up the concept and who’s who of the Circle along with Avery’s relationships and connections with them as they started unraveling the conspiracy. Book two ramps it up a significant notch as they start a treasure hunt across Europe to find artifacts from the days of Napoleon that contain clues. It also brings the love triangle into play, with Avery trying to figure out her feelings for Jack and Stellan. The action is nonstop to the end, and wraps up quite a few of the mystery details while leaving ample room for the story to continue in book 3.

Julia Whelan’s narration outstanding as always, the various nationalities in the story give her a lot of accents to tackle and really bring the story alive!

I tried, because I loved the setting and accents, but I had to give up without finishing. It moved slowly, the characters are either not likable, unrealistically obtuse or just silly. Nana Jean was the one who kept me there, but even she started to get repetitive.

The performance aspect of the Audible was what made this as good as it was. The story was interesting and well paced with fun twists, and I liked all the different characters. But the sound effects and cast of voices is what transformed this into something truly magical! This one will be a regular holiday listen for me :)
