Did they just purchase the narration from Temu? I didn’t even realize there were multiple characters in the story.

Slow start and a lot of questions unanswered
Reviewed: 09-29-23
I did enjoy the book but it was a very slow start, like a lot of Kings books, and I had sooo many questions at the end that went unanswered. It was story, story, story and then ok let’s finish this thing as fast as possible.

Yes, video game in book form
Reviewed: 09-27-22
I saw a couple reviews stating it’s like a video game story in book form. Very accurate. Started great and half way through was just a mess. Was hoping to find a news series to enjoy. Don’t waste your credits.

With Sobol’s secrets buried with him, and as new layers of his daemon are unleashed, it’s up to Detective Peter Sebeck to stop a self-replicating virtual killer before it achieves its ultimate purpose - one that goes far beyond anything Sebeck could have imagined.

Steve Jobs Goes Nuts!
Reviewed: 09-08-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different plot. It's amaeurish and overreaching. I completely agree with the other negative reviewers here. If you are not into virtual gaming don't bother with this book. A teenager would find this a fascinating read.
Has Daemon turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Overacting. The cliches didn't help.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment that I spent my credit on it.
Any additional comments?
I can see why some would love this book. If you are into gaming you will love the concept of this book and what happens in it. But the thought of a Steve Jobs type going terrorist is just too much for me.

Story
Four United States presidents have been assassinated - in 1865, 1881, 1901, and 1963 - each murder seemingly unrelated and separated by time. But what if those presidents were all killed for the same reason: a clause in the United States Constitution - contained within Article 1, Section 8 - that would shock Americans? This question is what faces former Justice Department operative Cotton Malone in his latest adventure. When a bold assassination attempt is made against President Danny Daniels in the heart of Manhattan, Malone risks his life to foil the killing....

Boooooring!

I try not to pay any attention to reviews unless there are just too many bad ones. When I downloaded this book there were no reviews, and I've enjoyed the other Cotton Malone books. This was absolutely the most boring book I've listened to. I didn't even finish it. I just couldn't bare it any longer. I spent days trying to convince myself that it would get better, re-listening to the same parts of the book because I found mysefl wondering away from it time and time again. Scott Brick is my favorite narrator of all time...and I've been listening to audio books on my long drive to work for almost 10 years. Don't waste your credit, your money or anything else on this one. It was an interesting idea for a story, but Steve Berry just bored me with this thing. Don't even know how it ends, and don't even care
