Historia
Gav isn't really sure how he ended up with a castle full of goblins, or why he has a princess locked in a cell. All he can do is play along with his own evil plan in hopes of getting his memories back before he gets himself killed. But as he realizes that nothing—from the incredibly tasteless cloak adorned with flames to the aforementioned princess—is quite what it seems, Gav must face up to all the things the Dread Lord Gavrax has done. And he'll have to answer the hardest question of all—who does he want to be?

Poor sound mixing nearly ruins it
Revisado: 03-17-25
The story was great up until Chapter 13, when the princess character became overbearing. The reader was great and dynamic but the person editing the sound should be fired. Every female voice is quiet and hard to hear. I have to jack the volume up to hear their part then get blasted in the ear when the narrator comes back in. Annoying as crap and ruins a good ending argument by one of the better characters.

Historia
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

New Favorite
Revisado: 01-18-25
I absolutely loved this book and performance. It is damn near perfect. Humor (dark and light), intertwined story lines, mystery, cleverness, touching moments - all made better by the quality performances. I truly laughed out loud and gasped at times, which I rarely do for audio books. This one gripped me from beginning to end, and I loved every minute. Please, sir, may I have some more?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I especially enjoyed hearing the stories from the people involved and the story of how the trio developed their talents through theater. I'm inspired to put down my laundry and ignore the professionals for my next endeavor.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Good gracious, I enjoyed this book, with it's twists and turns. I especially enjoyed the narration style and actors. I would highly recommend it, even at full price. It's one of only a handful I would give this high praise.

Historia
Growing up Black in rural North Carolina, Ray McMillian’s life is already mapped out. But Ray has a gift and a dream—he’s determined to become a world-class professional violinist, and nothing will stand in his way. Not his mother, who wants him to stop making such a racket; not the fact that he can’t afford a violin suitable to his talents; not even the racism inherent in the world of classical music.

Very good story, anticlimactic ending
Revisado: 07-04-24
I enjoyed the novel, even the passages about race that were hard to hear but necessary to remind us that bad things still happen and equal treatment for all has not been achieved. The chapters leading to the resolution were active and involved, keeping me locked in to the story; I wish the resolution had carried the same energy. By comparison, it was flat. I loved the way the narrator played Grandma Nora; I could feel the generational love through his reading. I would recommend this book, if nothing else than to see and hear the story from the author's and narrator's voice/point of view.

Good story, interesting narration
Revisado: 06-08-24
I like the story very much. Be patient; the first half feels a bit slow but it's setting up the story well. I like the narrator's tone but her American accent is so bad in places that it's a distraction and hard to understand. Also I've never heard anyone take so long to say "twenty-twenty two" and it got to be a giggling point toward the end. But overall a good story and enjoyable.

Magical performance of a lovely book
Revisado: 11-06-23
This book is lovely, and a wonderful story with interesting turns and events that have just enough foreshadowing to keep you hooked.
Four stars for the story which has too much detail for my liking. If you like Tolkein for detail, you will like this book. The first few chapters were good, then the book slowed a bit before the second part, after which i was terminally riveted. I'm glad I was patient, because I almost left the story before that important point. Additionally, the ending was abrupt and left me wanting.
Five stars for the narration, and more if I could give them. The pace was slow then urgent in all the right places. For the rest of my life I will hear the words Emmet, Lucien, Seredith, and Darnay in his voice, and gently my heart will melt.

Historia
With Duran Duran, John Taylor has created some of the greatest music of our time. From the disco dazzle of debut single "Planet Earth" right up to their latest number one album, All You Need is Now, Duran Duran has always had the power to sweep the world onto its feet. It's been a ride - and for John in particular, the ride has been wild, thrilling...and dangerous. Now, for the first time, he tells his incredible story. A tale of dreams fulfilled, lessons learned and demons conquered.

The story was well written and a great insight for anyone who followed the band in the 80s on. Hearing the author read the story was an added layer of interest and made the book come to life.

Good story, great continuation from Crazy Rich Asians. Footnote reading kills moments though. Reader did best possible job in face of poor direction.
