I've returned to this story nearly 20 years later and I find it's just as informative now as it was then and that it is a great debate hanger.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

what happened to peeves in the movies?
Reviewed: 01-22-24
The book was great, definitely worth a relisten.
I feel like peeves would have made the movie a little more interesting... Didnt know Longbottom had a larger part to play in the book than the movies.

Reviewed: 08-08-21
This series has been a wild ride, the next book is the conclusion... The narration has been fantastic all characters are destinctly defined, and are present in the story. The story has taken so many twists and turns but some how it has managed to stay...on course? not sure, I'm at a loss for words...It is definitely unique, this is one of the stories that I grew up with, I often had friends who read the books, but I was never much interested in reading long narratives back then. I actually read Vampire Mountain when I was in middle school just because I had to read a short book and right a paper on it...but at the time I didn't realize that it was apart of a series. I have listened to all 12 books in less than a week so it was quick, but a clearly defined action packed adventure for all. I would definitely recommend this title to a friend who is a lover of the unique and bizarre...
