Historia
By the time Shania Twain was two, her parents had divorced, and by early childhood, her family of seven was often without food, at times living in a filthy one-bedroom apartment. But when her mother and stepfather were tragically killed in an automobile accident when she was 22, Shania knew that the only way to lift her family out of poverty was to use her God-given singing talent. At an age when most young people have only themselves to think about, Shania moved her entire family to a nearby resort where she began performing, supporting her younger brothers and sisters.

Historia
Within These Walls is the powerful memoir of Rev. Carroll Pickett, who spent fifteen years as the death house chaplain at "The Walls," the Huntsville unit of the Texas prison system. In that capacity, Reverend Pickett ministered to ninety-five men before they were put to death by lethal injection. They came with sinister nicknames like "The Candy Man" and "The Good Samaritan Killer," some contrite, some angry -- a few who might even have been innocent.

This book captivated me from the beginning to the end. Reverend Pickett thanks for writing a book of your support of those being executed on Texas' death row. Your work and care of the men you took care of until their executions was heart felt. God bless you in your retirement. Job well done.

Historia
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

A great book
Revisado: 02-14-20
Loved the book and learned a lot about the judicial system! Thanks for teaching me that many people are so mistreated in our judicial system and are innocent on top of all of that. The prosecution and defense should get the same amount of money to take a person to court. It is a disgrace to see how a poor defender is treated. Thanks again for the inlightment. God bless you and your team.

Historia
Thousands of American soldiers are returning from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan with severe wounds from chemical war. They are not the victims of ruthless enemy warfare, but of their own military commanders. These soldiers, afflicted with rare cancers and respiratory diseases, were sickened from the smoke and ash swirling out of the "burn pits" where military contractors incinerated mountains of trash, including old stockpiles of mustard and sarin gas, medical waste, and other toxic material.

Had a smoke whale at camp Balad in 2007. They could find no medical reason for my stroke so, now I am thinking the burn pits caused it.
