Story
Lucy Sullivan is 26 and living it up (and occasionally down) in London. Hers is a life of quiet, undisciplined desperation. But when she and three friends visit a psychic for a bit of fun and the woman's predictions start coming true, Lucy is horrified. For the fortune-teller insisted she'd soon be married - within the year, in fact. Not only does Lucy not have a boyfriend, but the chances of getting one are looking slim. Between the bottles of wine, antidepressants and her addiction to self-help books, she's not quite ready to walk, or even stumble, down the aisle sober.

A bit long winded
Reviewed: 10-25-24
I really love Marian Keyes' books for lighthearted, funny and insightful stories. I felt that this one however, was not one of her best. I thoroughly enjoyed the last 3 hours of the book, but up until then I found it quite long winded and drawn out.

Story
Tiffy Moore needs a cheap flat, and fast. Leon Twomey works nights and needs cash. Their friends think they're crazy, but it's the perfect solution: Leon occupies the one-bed flat while Tiffy's at work in the day, and she has the run of the place the rest of the time. But with obsessive ex-boyfriends, demanding clients at work, wrongly imprisoned brothers and, of course, the fact that they still haven't met yet, they're about to discover that if you want the perfect home you need to throw the rule book out the window.

Bit depressing
Reviewed: 09-10-22
I bought this title because it was a Reese Witherspoon bookclub recommendation, and after how much I loved her recommended: Where the Crawdad Sings, I blindly followed. But this one wasn't my cup of tea, the storyline jumps back and forth through a number of different time periods, which at times was a bit confusing. And I felt some parts where explained in painstaking detail and then others completely swept over. I kept hoping the tone of the book would get a bit happier or lighter as the lead character built a beautiful life for herself, but it didn't. I actually found it all a bit depressing with an unsatisfying end.

Awful story
Reviewed: 03-23-22
It honestly just kept getting more and more disturbing. I stopped half way, wish I'd never started it.
I'm mindful that this is an illustration of some people's lived experiences, but you need thicker skin than mine to enjoy this book.
