Israel and Erin are strangers who wake up in a dark sub basement with no memory of how they got there. As they work together to escape, they encounter the clandestine Sentry Group and are thrust into a hidden subculture of monsters, secret societies, and carefully concealed history. The truth of human history isn't the only surprise waiting for them, though, as the power hidden deep within their DNA suddenly manifests. A man cursed with a monstrous hunger. A woman who can bend space and time. Will Israel and Erin stand against the coming darkness or let humanity fend for itself?

Absolutely Addictive

Listen to this book, I highly recommend!!!.
It's honestly as addictive as when you get sucked into a new tv series. I just had to pause the book to leave my house and it felt like I stopped an exceptionally good episode right in the middle. So here I am, now at work, headphones on, realizing that I only have 2.5 hours left and book 2&3 are not yet on audible and I'm already moaning and wondering what I will do because I need the next books now. 😅
Get it and listen to it! I was highly surprised and impressed and I think you will be too.
There is a possible trigger for some people when it touches on the life/abuse that the female lead has endured in her past BUT it is done for character building and does not become a heavy focal point, neither is it glamorized or glorified. The story does not centralize around it, it is only used as I said to build the character and explain her motives. Just a note to some people when it comes up so it's not a suprise and to not let it deter you.
This story and narration are fantastic and I'll be waiting with bated breath for the next two books to be released on audible.

This ENTIRE series is utterly FANTASTIC!!!

This entire series is fantastic I am seconds into the 4th book and every book is just as great if not better than the last! I find myself absolutely addicted to listening to this series. I am so invested and I find myself laughing at the dialogue between the characters. You don't have to worry about 15 minutes of inner monologue from anyone where they repeat themselves and drone on and on. It grabs your attention and keeps it. I'm already dreading when I'm done book 4 because I don't know what to listen to next. I will probably struggle finding another series that gives me this much dopamine. 🤣

I really like this series but...
Reviewed: 08-14-23
I really do like this series, but I'm slowly finding it more and more difficult to listen to as each book is written to be a standalone in the sense that it explains every detail the exact same since book 1 whether it be someone's outfit (which has not changed at all) or a spell being cast (no changes) or the description of a town. It's almost like everytime those things came up it was a copy and paste description throughout every book. even to the point of describing the other characters which are in every chapter. Yes we already know what they look like, you have described that supporting character 15 times the exact same way everytime they've come up for the past 5 books. BUT in saying that you can not listen to each book as a standalone as the story line would make no sense. sooo it's slightly frustrating when you listen to half a chapter of descriptions that you've already heard numerous times... but I generally do find the plot interesting it just feels like they're trying to hit a specific word count and they used copy and paste (alot!).

Personal opinion - couldn't listen to the FN
Reviewed: 08-08-23
I cannot believe how slow the female narrator reads along with adding so many pauses in a sentence. I was at about 1.55x just to make what she was saying sound like one cohesive thought or sentence. I do not enjoy when people try and build suspense when there is no reason behind it. reading three or four words and then taking a breath reading three or four more words and then stopping reading another three or four more words.... I unfortunately couldn't even begin to get into the story, I have absolutely no opinion about it which is unfortunate due to the fact that the book is rated so well. 🥺

Becoming a knockoff Dracula in tight leather pants was never part of Vincent’s plans. Neither was being summoned to another world by a cult of vampire wannabes. But both happened. Now, Vincent’s left to pick up the tattered pieces of his humanity as he tries to grow strong enough to keep his family safe. The world is filled with nightmares, and the looming threat of losing his soul stands between his goal and his reality, so it’s not like it will be too hard or anything. Hell should tremble. Story
I can’t remember anymore if my grandfather’s eyes were blue or green, but I’ll never forget the way they wrinkled at the corners when he laughed at one of his own jokes. Or the way they sparkled with mischief when he told me tales about the magical creatures that dwelled in the forest behind his humble Irish sheep farm. As a child, I believed every fantastical word. But when he warned me about the mute boy who also lurked in those woods, the one the priest had declared to be the spawn of Satan himself, I refused to listen.

listen with caution, possible triggers...
Reviewed: 07-29-23
I love this book, but caution, in saying that I do believe that this writer did a magnificent job of not writing any situation to be intentionally traumatizing but also being very sensitive to the characters personal triggers but also being honest about things we all know are happening in the world. this book was a wonderful telling of a love story of two individuals finding themselves and being accepting of each other and sensitive towards each other's needs. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. also the male narrator... my goodness that voice. 😏

Deranged and violent. Gorgeous but frightening. I’m a businessman, so when one of my debtors offers me his fiancé in exchange for a debt settled, I figure why not? The woman will be a quick sell. Repayment comes in the form of a beautiful but haunted young woman. The light in her tempts the darkness inside of me. Teases it, tortures it. I want to hurt her. I want to break her. I want to keep her. Luckily for Celia, she fails to see that there is no goodness in me.
