Good for newer leaders
Revisado: 04-05-25
If you’ve struggled to reach your goals, The Power of Discipline offers a refreshing approach. The book explains that success isn’t just about talent or motivation, it's about self-discipline. This skill can be learned, just like driving or playing a sport.
The author combines practical advice with real-world examples, like Navy SEALs and Zen Buddhists, to teach how to build the mental strength needed for success. The book focuses on ditching bad habits and adopting those of successful people, giving you a clear path to improvement.
What I found most helpful is that it shows motivation alone won’t get you far. Self-discipline is what keeps you going, even when motivation fades. The tips are simple, practical, and easy to start using right away.
Overall, The Power of Discipline is a solid read for anyone who feels stuck and wants a simple, effective way to start achieving their goals. If you're ready to take control of your future, this book is worth checking out.

Another Gem from John!
Revisado: 04-05-25
As a passionate follower of John C. Maxwell's insightful approach to leadership, I can confidently say that "Experience the Power of Charismatic Leadership" is a compelling addition to his body of work. Maxwell's narration, in his own voice, adds a personal touch that enhances the listening experience, making his teachings on charisma and influence resonate even more deeply.
Maxwell's premise that leadership is fundamentally about influence rings true throughout the audiobook. He emphasizes the transformative power of shifting one's focus from self-promotion to genuine connection with others. This shift, as Maxwell eloquently puts it, from "Here I am!" to "Ah, there you are!" encapsulates the essence of charismatic leadership.
What makes Maxwell's approach valuable is its practicality. He breaks down charisma into 21 actionable skills, grouped into phases that build upon each other: becoming interested in others, becoming invested in others, and becoming interesting to others. This structured framework not only provides clarity but also empowers listeners to cultivate these skills systematically.
While Maxwell's style may not appeal to everyone, particularly those seeking a more academic or theoretical approach, his insights undeniably offer nuggets of wisdom for anyone looking to enhance their leadership capabilities. His emphasis on daily practice and continuous improvement resonates strongly, reinforcing the idea that charisma, like any skill, can be developed with dedication and intentionality.
"Experience the Power of Charismatic Leadership" is a testament to Maxwell's expertise and dedication to helping leaders thrive. Whether you're a seasoned executive or aspiring manager, this audiobook offers invaluable guidance on building meaningful connections and leveraging charisma to achieve greater impact. While acknowledging my bias as a devoted fan of Maxwell's work, I wholeheartedly recommend this audiobook for its practical wisdom and transformative potential in leadership development.

Whether a patient, health consumer, physician, nurse, health executive, or elected official, somewhere deep in our brains is this simple truth: the American health system isn’t working, and it will only get worse if we don’t do something about it. Despite spending more money per capita on healthcare than any other country in the world, the U.S. struggles to match other nations in life expectancy, health outcomes and general well-being. Meanwhile the system spends more on unnecessary, ineffective and wasteful services than what we collectively invest in K-12 education in America.

This is such a sweet story about Steve, who overcame the odds and made the most out of his life.
We often don't think of how difficult it is for those born with Down Syndrome or other special needs to find their place in this world. I love how the author showed the compassion that Steve gave to the students who were having their own challenges - though different from his own. That kindness led to a young man finding his own place in this world. This just goes to show how if we give each other grace and treat others in kind and compassionate ways, that we can make a difference in this crazy world.
Lynn, the narrator did such a great job bringing the characters to life! I really felt each of the individual character's personalities come out in her portrayals. Engaging and inspirational!

I have never been so disaapointed
Revisado: 03-05-24
This book reveals NOTHING that has not already been reported. This is literally just a documentation of things reported elsewhere.
To make it worse... toward the end of the book - it becomes a reporting of the actual scripts of shows - stuff that was on air and people have already watched.
Yes... the author actually WROTE out - word for word the script of shows that AIRED... how is that not a copyright violation?
I cannot believe this passed through actual editors with a MAJOR book publication company.
It was like - they had to write a 15 hour book.
I regret buying this book.
I regret listening to the whole thing.
I am so confused and disappointed.
Someone got paid to do this.
I should have read the other reviews first.
The narrator also made some massive mistakes and no one caught it...
Terrible.
Just terrible.
