Great podcast!
Reviewed: 05-02-22
I found American Shadows about a week ago and liked it so much that I binged all the prior episodes. The bad thing about that, is now I have to wait until the next episode.
The narrator, Lauren Voglebaum, has a great voice and really drew me in. I plan on looking to see if she does any other shows. If you like history, this is a good one to add to your list of podcasts to listen to.

Story
Some days, all you need is a message from a stranger. Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas. The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional. Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect. What she didn't count on was falling in love with the guy.

Another winner from Ms. Zapata

I've listened to this book several times and still enjoyed it each time. The beginning is different from Mariana's others with the interaction between the 2 main characters. I loved listening to their relationship develop over email and often laughed out loud at Ruby's jokes.
I'd also like to complement Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton. They are both very talented and make the characters come alive. It was due Callie's performance of Wall of Winnipeg that got me to search out more Zapata books.

Some things are easily forgiven. Other things...not so much. Lenny DeMaio made herself a promise: She was done. Done thinking about him. Done worrying about him. Done reaching out to a man who clearly didn’t want to be found. Too bad no one gave Jonah Collins the memo.

Another great Zapata book!

I absolutely loved this performance! I can't remember how many times I busted out laughing while listening. I so wish that I had had a Grandpa Gus. He was one of the best characters in the book. I have listened to every book available by Mariana multiple times and this one is definitely going on the to-listen-again list. It is definitely worth the money.
I also want to give praise to Callie Dalton. Her performance is the main reason that I enjoyed these books so much. I tried actually reading this book when it first came out but just couldn't get into it. I needed Callie reading it to make everyone come alive and not be 2 dimensional. I hope she continues on any future Zapata books.

Story
Everything has a price, and the price of truth is steepest of all. Eden has an ironclad five-year plan. In three months, she's saying good riddance to Los Angeles and returning to the Pacific Northwest for medical school. Nothing is going to get in her way. Nothing... but the impossible. When she glimpses her doppelgänger at a party, the seemingly accidental meeting turns her life in a direction she never imagined, shredding everything she knows about herself and where she comes from.

Wow is the first thing that came to mind as soon as the book finished. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, it would take turn in a completely different direction. This was my first L. M. Halloran book so I was not familiar with author but I am glad I took a chance.
Emma Wilder did an excellent job of narrating and really brought Eden and Liam to life. Her voice was smooth and not choppy like some other narrators. I have enjoyed everything I have listened to of hers.

I just finished Niko and can't wait to listen to the next book. While the series is set in the future, I don't feel like everything is unbelievable which helps me to get in to the characters and story line. I love the interaction between the squads and can't wait to get to the Beserkers.
It took a bit to get used to the narrators but now that I'm used to them, I don't mind them. They have become part of the story. It would seem strange to have different narrators now.
