Historia
I loved the anonymity, flexibility and solitude that working the night shift at Storage Queen gave me. The unsociable hours paid well, helping me fund my university degree and giving me a quiet place to study while the world slept peacefully in their warm, cozy beds. It was the perfect job for me. But that Friday night proved to be more than I bargained for when a man walked through the door, dragging a large suitcase. My immediate instincts told me something was wrong. That’s when my ordeal began. I just had to make it through the night shift.

Perfect book/audiobook for thriller/suspense lovers!
Revisado: 08-30-23
If you like suspense and creepy, disconcerting and cognitively dissonant stories, you have to get this one. I read on kindle and listened as well. I go back and forth during the day.
You know that person, the one who is just a bit too attached while also being 'out there''? Well, SJI Holliday kind of explains and demonstrates that feeling of sympathy mixed with disgust, Trustworthiness? Forget it. I love how this book went. I flew through it. Imogen Church is the real OG
On this stuff. She brings it to life like no other and her voice kind of stabs the truth into you.

Historia
On Harlow Street, the well-to-do neighborhood couples and their children gather for a catered barbecue as the summer winds down; drinks continue late into the night. Everything is fabulous until the picture-perfect hostess explodes in fury because her son disobeys her. Everyone at the party hears her exquisite veneer crack—loud and clear. Before long, that same young boy falls from his bedside window in the middle of the night. And then, his mother can only sit by her son’s hospital bed, where she refuses to speak to anyone, and his life hangs in the balance.

Loved this book*******
Revisado: 06-14-23
I thought the whole thing was excellent, story and narration. Ashley Audrain is extremely talented. So far this year, I've read 50 books and this was one of the best. I think she nailed motherhood in it's varied forms. The Push was a stellar book as well.
The narration was good too. I wonder if some reviewers lose sight of the big picture? The audiobook is a book first and an audio production afterward. I loved it.

When one of Nora Bunstruggle’s friends is murdered in cold blood, it sends the Coochie Hole burlesque club on Megalopolis into shock. It soon becomes clear that the police have zero interest in the death of a burlesque dancer. But what if the twisted killer strikes their troupe again? And who is going to exact justice for the victim’s now motherless child? Nora and the gang from the Coochie Hole realise that if they want to get to catch their faceless murderous foe, they are going to have to roll their sleeves up and kick some backsides themselves.

Bawdy*Fun*Murder*YAY!!!
Revisado: 03-18-23
Five Stars all the way round. This is the quintessentially perfect combination of murder and bawdiness!
You won't be disappointed if you listen to this delightful romp of a story. Don't get me wrong, there is some serious murder, mystery, and evil going on here, with real suspense. The world is a dark place, and there isn't any other author/narrator who will transport you to another world like Imogen Church.
The characters are a rag tag group of burlesque performers and friends who form a found family, closely knit as you can be and as loyal as you can imagine. These are people who you feel, know, and laugh with. They say and do the funniest things. While reading, I had to write down the expletives because they were so hilarious. It's a confusing conundrum to me how one author can think all this up and make me laugh so much while truly relating to the characters. I want to be one of these people and hang around with them.
So while you are laughing and enjoying, you'll be transported to another place where you can't figure out what's going on. You'll really be dying to find out. I was, and it was not what I expected at all! I can usually guess SOMETHING. Yes, it's a little racy, but in a very lighthearted clean way. Refreshing.
You'll love listening!

Perfect Pick Suspenseful Thriller*Yay!
Revisado: 03-18-23
The Villa was a great audiobook and book. You'll enjoy this story of two friends in this isolated villa and all the accompanying drama. No ghosts, no monsters, just believable characters portrayed by excellent narrators.
I usually switch back and forth between listening and reading. If the story is captivating me, I switch to kindle because I read faster than listen. That's what I had to do here because I didn't want to miss, or wait for, what happened next. A story that keeps me wondering is a rare thing and this one did.
Here is a great story for suspense fans. Modern and current by Rachel Hawkins who wrote THE WIFE UPSTAIRS, it won't disappoint. Get this one!

The summer in question started out with hot, fun-filled days and new friendships. We had just turned thirteen and had our whole lives ahead of us. But that was before her. Before we became known as the Hixton Five and our lives become defined by one night. It’s hard to believe twenty years have passed since she was locked away. But now she’s free and strange things have started to happen. When I close my eyes, the creeping anxiety and fear is overwhelming and all too real. Because the monster is back, and I know she has a score to settle with us.

Suspenseful & Terrifying Story*Excellent Narration
Revisado: 03-18-23
Solid Three Star Story Suspense
The Sleepover appealed to me because it is right in my favorite genre, thrillers. More importantly, my favorite narrator was doing the work on this, so it would be good no matter what. Imogene Church is a trained expert in this, making me feel included in the setting and the characters, consistently, no matter what book is being narrated.
That said, I have read/listened to a large number of thrillers and suspense novels. In this one, childhood trauma still plagues a group of adults who suffered abuse at the hands of a fake nice, scary cruel, manipulative witch, a witch without any powers except her evil soul. Years later these former childhood friends are reunited. The disgusting woman is let out of prison and the whole story is kind of peeled back layer by layer. The problem was that the layers got a little long it parts and ended up a little more like wallpaper than an onion.
Overall I enjoyed it but wouldn't consider it one of my top picks. Some parts were a little drawn out and it got long. Solid thriller with a couple of trigger warnings. You can look that up.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Best Book! Enlightening, Educational. And Endearing!! Highly Recommend!
Revisado: 01-15-23
Harry narrated the book himself and did a fabulous job of sounding real, like someone sitting in your living room having a beer. Low key and incredibly real. He didn't just read it like he was repeating the words in the page.
The story was deep and taught me, finally, what it means to be in the Royal Family. I had thought I knew, but didn't. The press and paparazzi hounded him all his life. The extent was unimaginable until I read this.
Harry was so honest. I loved every minute.

The holly-jolly holidays aren’t for everyone, least of all when you look back on that one Christmas when there were two definitely haunted dolls waiting for you and your sister under the tree. You have to assume that’s where it all started. And so it was for Jenny Lawson. Now, she lives in the land of eternal Halloween, as evidenced by her interior decor and general state of darkness. (Although, if you ask her, her taxidermy zoo is less dark, more delightful. But not everyone has taste, so what are you going to do?)

Listening to this audiobook/audible original was pure fun. More than a romance, no murders, but surely a searing story. Made me think about things like relationships, trust, and loyalty. Trust may have been somewhat broken, but loyalty and love trumped all.
Nice reader to listen to!
