Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Don’t listen to negative reviews
Reviewed: 11-18-21
You might notice a certain theme amongst almost every negative review on here, that of which people are confused and/or put off by the fact that the narration throughout the audiobook seems to be erratic, inconsistent, and just flat out confusing. At first notice it may seem like the character narrations skip around between different voice actors at random and that the same dialogue for a single character even changes in the same scene. I’m here to tell you to NOT be put off by this fact or the reviews you read that complain about it. Once you realize what is actually going on it makes it completely worth listening to. While probably not the best I idea to implement on a cherished novel such as this, what the creators have done is take certain dialogue exchanges throughout the book and use voice actors to turn them into mini little scenes and the rest is read and voiced by the narrator(which might I add is amazingly good, so good in fact that it seems like there are more people than there actually are doing the voice acting). This change up between voice actors and the narrator is what has caused so much confusion. But it isn’t random, and it isn’t jumbled, and it isn’t by any means “un-listenable”. If you just keep in mind that when you hear a change it’s the start of a scene between the voice actors then it will be a seamless experience that in my opinion is more rewarding than if it were only the narrator throughout. Some of the actors(Baron Harkonnen in particular)are really quite good and give a much needed change of pace in what is a very long audiobook. 10/10.

Any chance of survival now requires sacrifice, but what battles dare he lose so that others can be won? Dan Abnett Strikes Again!
Reviewed: 07-24-20
Without a doubt my favorite book of the series thus far. Johnathan Keeble is on the top of his game and really catches the nuances in the text that you could never get from reading alone. The second narrator playing the sister of silence does not disappoint and even goes as far to make me start to get choked up toward the end, I literally had to make sure no one else was around as to see me get misty eyed from a
40k novel. Top notch.

Story
The war for the fate of mankind blazes on. Though the outer defences have fallen, the walls of the Palace itself remain inviolate as Rogal Dorn, the Praetorian of Terra himself, uses every known stratagem and ploy to keep Horus' vast armies at bay. In Perturabo, the Traitor siegebreaker, Dorn faces an adversary worthy of his skill. A terrible, grinding attrition ensues. The crucial battle for the Lion's Gate spaceport is at the heart of this conflict. With it in their possession, the Traitors can land their most devastating weapons on Terran soil. Dorn knows it must not fall.

And the Grammy goes to......

Although John Keeb won’t be winning any Grammy awards for his singing (I’ve been workin thee line, workin thee line, workin thee line......) he still brings to the table an excellent narration of the novel as to be expected. The book itself is a good read and will be a welcome addition to the series.
