We are binging this series. It is that good! Multidimensional characters, creative plots, and a great narrator all keep us coming back for more.

Great, intriguing thrill ride by master Mark Greaney (big fans of Gray Man). Narrator Adam Gold was very good, BUT his voice nearly would drop out on the low tones making it frustrating to set a comfortable sound level.

The ugly stepchild of the first three

Blessedly shorter than his first three books of the series, this one should have been shorter still. The plot line was basic, beefed up by overly drawn out arguments/conversation and an hour’s worth of gratuitous F-words. Edit out those and you have book #3.5 instead of #4.

To be fair, this is the first Jack Mars book I have read.

The initial teaser for this story sounded very exciting. The Presidents daughter is kidnapped. Luke Stone, capable warrior goes in search to save her. Unfortunately, this does not happen until you are well into a story about Luke that is cliche for this subject matter.
The reader has a good voice but his interpretation of characters and sound effects, I found, distracting.
Overall, the characters were almost comical in their immature responses to one another. And this was complimented by people, places and stats that did nothing to add to the story.

Finally, the story was all over the place and this begs the question, who was the editor?

The story was captivating, with great characters and intrigue. I wonder at the choice of a female narrator when all but one of the characters were male. McFadden did a good job, and once I got used to her voice I got lost in the story. Honestly, I was surprised that it wasn’t off-putting. Even so, I think a male narrator would have been a better choice.

Great narrator gave the characters distinction, entertaining plot, heart-pounding ending, but the whole book could have used a 25% edit. One less star for the tedious bits.

This story left me feeling like an observer in a war planning room. Hearing the plans but never experiencing any action. Blah!

I bought this book on the premise that it will be a story about what one does, given a second chance. It was not. It led up to the what if ... and then ended. Both my wife and I were unfulfilled and frustrated by the ending. You need a Paul Harvey to step in and say, and now, the rest of the story.
