Not the Pendergast story that I grown to enjoy
Reviewed: 08-22-21
Pendergast has been through a lot of different adventures, but this one us beyond believing. Please, a portal into the future, maybe for another character in another genre, but not Pendergast.
William DeMeritt should not be narrating any audio books. He does not present the liquid voice of Pendergast and Constance sounds like an old farmer, male farmer at that. if this is a prelude to the next Pendergast story, I will be hard pressed to listen to it and I have listened to all of the Pendergast stories.
I can not wait to return this book.

Independent at last, with a passion for divinity and detective work, her most baffling mystery may now involve Holmes and the burgeoning of a deeper affection between herself and the retired detective.

Most boring story
Reviewed: 11-15-14
What disappointed you about A Monstrous Regiment of Women: A Novel of Suspense Featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes?
Where was the plot, the suspense. The whole story was told in the last two chapters. Anyone with half a brain knew who the villain was from the beginning.
Would you ever listen to anything by Laurie R. King again?
Probably, but I will really look into the ratings. I cannot believe people gave this 5 or 4 stars.
Which character – as performed by Jenny Sterlin – was your favorite?
Russell
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment. I thought her first book was too long on describing her journey to her home lands, could have shortened the book by two chapters and have used them to put more intrigue into the story.
Any additional comments?
I wasted a purchase on this book.

Story
Fatima, Portugal, 1917: The Virgin Mary appears to three peasant children, sharing with them three secrets, two of which are soon revealed to the world. The third secret is sealed away in the Vatican, read only by popes, and not disclosed until the year 2000. When revealed, its quizzical tone and anticlimactic nature leave many faithful wondering if the church has truly unveiled all of the Virgin Mary's words or if a message far more important has been left in the shadows.
