The plague trope!
Reviewed: 12-29-24
I loved the series to begin with but forgot why I stopped listening to it. Then I got to point in this story when the ranger was setting up to release the new plague. OH that’s right they are introducing a new plague to stir up drama! Sorry I am out. I am here hot military SCI FI not hospital drama.

Story
When the black rain began to fall, it was a worldwide phenomenon that mystified everyone. There was little time to ponder the cause. Most animals died at the onset. While some humans were unaffected, others experienced a half-death of sorts, morphing into blood and flesh-crazed creatures with a desire to hunt the living. Climbing Fox Wattana of the Henomawi Nation claims responsibility for the black rain; he says it will will ensure the ultimate extinction of the United States government as revenge for robbing his people of their land. Cole "CB" Baxter isn't taking this lying down.

Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy and the crew of the USS Walker find themselves caught between the nation they swore to defend and the allies they promised to protect. For even as the Allies and the Empire of New Britain Isles stand united against the attacks of both the savage Grik and the tenacious Japanese, the "Holy Dominion" - a warped mixture of human cultures whose lust for power overshadows even the Grik - is threatening to destroy them both with a devastating weapon neither can withstand.

My only real complaint is that Desilva’s voice has gone from a tough gruff sailor to a near Disney’s Goofy voice. It is grating and so different than the first few books.

It was every starship captain’s nightmare, and for Travis Miller, it was his own personal hell. He’d done everything by the book, but when the Tahni had attacked him and his crew, there was no choice but to return fire and destroy the first alien vessel humans had ever encountered. Excoriated in the press, his career in shambles, Travis is exiled to a long patrol of the outer colony worlds. Forgotten, except as a bad example...until the Tahni prove him right by declaring war on the human commonwealth.

Good book, interesting plot line. Narrator should look up the proper annunciation of long used SCI-FI and military terms like “kludge”.

It has taken almost five years for the United States of Europe to stabilize its position in 17th-century Europe. Now it turns its attention to the New World, where the English have ceded their colonial claims to France. There are vast lands and rich resources across the Atlantic for any nations powerful enough to rule and control them—and equal incentive for other nations to block their path.

Lazy writing
Reviewed: 09-16-22
Too much sex , not enough story. Felt rushed and like the tagline for a porno. Did not mesh well or make sense at all. I was disappointed. The narrators were good, writing was like a juvenile teen male wrote it. Sex scenes were over the top and just too often. Could’ve been a good story but unfortunately didn’t spend too much time on nonsex things. Anticipation makes a book great and some sex but not all the time. Didn’t make her seem cherished.

This whole book was incredibly sexy but seriously adorable. Their relationship leading up to and in the end was so eventful and the story held me captivated. Boy can this lady write a sex scene. I normally skip that part but I couldn’t wait for the scenes in her book. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. I can’t wait for more.

This book, this author, what can I say but amazing! She captures the heart and spectrum of autism. As I read Anna’s journey, I realize how similar her traits are to mine own. As a mom of three kids on the spectrum, I notice their quirks but ignored my own. This book captures so much and I want to say thank you to the author.

Story
I’ve been swept off my feet before, and I’ve got the bruises to show just how badly that ended. I’m not about to fall at the feet of the next man - or alien - to cross my path. Especially not when he steals me away from home and wants to use me as his broodmare. Kloran is intense and sometimes scary. A prince of his people with a duty so deeply ingrained, it’s hard to see where it ends and he begins. But the glimpses of the man beneath the hardened warrior prince make me wonder if there’s something more between us.

This book series was so steamy that when my husband walked in on me listening to it, he got very hot and bothered and (TMI), it lead to a very hot session of you know what’s. I just found this author and promptly bought the other three books in this series. The sex scene are scorchers and the characters are just the right amount of assertive ,submissive and reasonably kind and understandingly protective. Usually sex scenes can just be so ugh. On and on,others go, but this one was just the right amount (minus one discussion about the guy’s sperm). Short and sweet and enjoyable with some twists.

A lot and I can say that I am impressed with this author’s capture of the essence of black women and blending these intriguing tales, love affairs and OMG erotic talk and pictures in her books. I just bought the next book and I’m am so eager to see where this love affair goes. Bravo! And keep em coming!
