Story
Into Keldale's pastoral web of old houses and older secrets comes Scotland Yard Inspector Thomas Lynley, the eighth earl of Asherton. Along with the redoubtable Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers, Lynley has been sent to solve a savage murder that has stunned the peaceful countryside. For fat, unlovely Roberta Teys has been found in her best dress, an ax in her lap, seated in the old stone barn beside her father's headless corpse. Her first and last words were "I did it. And I'm not sorry".

I can hardly put it down. having seen the Linley TV series years ago on PBS. I did expect linkey to be a brunette not a blonde. Love the book and will move onto the next one.

I love Sean & the police at RUC- excellent characters and believable. The convolutions of the plot were believable, interesting and i enjoyed the action. This story did not have the final denoument twice as in previous books. The portrayal of Northern Ireland and the “troubles” is very compelling and informative. Sean’s musical tastes add a dimension that is quirky & fun. The descriptions were quite beautiful and often poetic. Ready for book 6.

Story
Gabriel Allon, the art restorer, spy, and assassin described as the most compelling fictional creation "since Ian Fleming put down his martini and invented James Bond" ( Rocky Mountain News), is poised to become the chief of Israel's secret intelligence service. But on the eve of his promotion, events conspire to lure him into the field for one final operation. ISIS has detonated a massive bomb in the Marais district of Paris, and a desperate French government wants Gabriel to eliminate the man responsible before he can strike again.

Another Great Listen

Would you listen to The Black Widow again? Why?
I have read all of Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon stories and eagerly awaited this one. I was justly rewarded. The characters, action and immediacy of the story line were riveting and exciting. The dialogue flowed easily and believably. The suspense was always there but built as the story unfolded because I was so involved with the characters.
What did you like best about this story?
The story rang true from the first moments. I felt that it flowed smoothly and believably from first to last.
What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
George Guidall's reading is always wonderful and this was no exception. He made each character real and three dimensional and each story thread real and exciting.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Fact or fiction?
Any additional comments?
As I watch Audible's advertisements on PBS I thought of this book being one of the examples.

Story
Many horse trainers, even those who espouse the so-called natural horsemanship approach, take the position that horses who fail to obey a human's request are doing so as much out of perversity as ignorance. That's not Mark Rashid's view. In his words, "If we understand that horses can't separate the way they feel from the way they act, then we can start to see that unwanted behavior isn't bad behavior at all. More times than not, it's just the horse expressing the way he feels at that particular moment in time....

Story
Since the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in 1865 and Through the Looking Glass six years later, Lewis Carroll’s nonsensical tales have delighted the world with wildly imaginative and unforgettable journeys. While charming children with a heroine who represents their own feelings about growing up, the Alice stories are also appreciated by adults as a gentle satire on education, politics, literature, and Victorian life in general.
