Good continuation

The main story progresses, with some character growth from our trio. A side adventure that takes up a large portion of the story but does add to the main objective. Overall I enjoyed this one and look forward to the next one.

The narrator was changed for books 3 & 4 and this killed the enjoyment I had with this series. I felt so lost at the start of the book. I didn't recognize any of the characters due to the different voices. This lead to me having a hard time staying focused. Honestly the performance by Max is not bad just not what I wanted or expected.

If a series needs to change narrators for what ever reason, I much prefer to start the series over from the beginning. With that new voice for the series. Also I really enjoyed the performance in books 1 and 2 by Adam Stubbs. I wish he could have continued to voice this series,

A slow start

Overall I enjoyed the book, the world and plot are interesting; all though it does suffer from slow pacing and the MC is not my favorite.

Warning: this book has multiple PoV's and as the series progresses the number of new and side characters will grow. Additionally there are several side stories and jumps between the past and the present. There is also unconventional relationships, rape, and torture.

I don't like books with multiple Povs and skipped every chapter that did not have Ryun or a character that was interacting with Ryun at that point in the story. Even doing so I didn't feel like I was lost or missing anything by doing so. However If I knew about the multiple Povs before starting this series I would not have purchased this book. That said at this point I am invested in this series and will continue with book 4.

Only here for Ryun

Full disclosure I hate multiple pov stories. If this series started out that way or was indicated with book one that it would develop into such a story, I would not have purchased it. I skipped every chapter that was not from the perspective of Ryun or someone who is interacting with him at that point in the story. In total that cuts this down to about 18 hours. That is still a lot of story for 1 credit. Skipping chapters did not make me lose track of the overall story and I didn't feel like I was missing something by doing so.

New voice actor ruined it for me.

The story of book three is not as good as one and two but still decent and I wanted to finish the audio adaptation. However the performance by Romy (the new voice actor) is lack luster. She does not make distinctions in character voices. Making the story harder to follow. I found myself going back and listening to book two and comparing them. Eva seems to put more emotion into the characters as well as providing the characters with different sounding voices. I think the book would have benefited by keeping Eva as our female cast and getting a male voice actor for the male roles.
