I had recently watched the series The Pacific which is based at least in part on this book. It was a sobering experience listening to this while recalling what I had watched. I will strive to remember the awful yet triumphant the fearful and brave experience that these men endured. I am thankful for the sacrifice they made and the ultimate sacrifice of those who lost their lives.
The story is well written and the narration is on point, I do recommend.

The refreshing drink of water I've been craving

I've been struggling to understand the reasons why our nation is heading in the direction it is. Failing to understand has left it difficult for me to engage in a compassionate and meaningful way. The simple and straightforward principles put forth in this book have given me that understanding. I now understand where the dividing lines have been drawn and clearly which side I stand on.
