I loved this twist on the classic Holmes vs. Moriarty. This gave such a dive into how Moriarty became Sherlock's nemesis. What a phenomenal cast and story, and I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Sherlock like I've never read before
Reviewed: 09-29-22
I thought this was a very interesting twist on Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is Charlotte Holmes, a young woman who fabricated her own demise in society. When she meets Mrs. Watson and creates her business, she helps solve a huge case.
I love the idea of a smart woman being Holmes. Each character was interesting and I stayed invested in the story. I will say that though the ending was satisfying, there were also disturbing revelations.
I can't wait to read more.

As someone who loves the games, I absolutely loved this. Was the premise a bit unbelievable? Absolutely but, to be fair, that's how the games are too. This is definitely meant to be listened to with an understanding of the world of Abstergo, Templars, and the Assassins. The voice acting was superb and I want the modern day characters to show up in more AC media. Plus they had one of my favorites as part of this!

Six months after Rupert Falkes dies, leaving a grieving widow and five adult sons, an unknown woman sues his estate, claiming she had two sons by him. The Falkes brothers are pitched into turmoil, at once missing their father and feeling betrayed by him. In disconcerting contrast, their mother, Eleanor, is cool and calm, showing preternatural composure. Eleanor and Rupert had made an admirable life together - Eleanor with her sly wit and generosity, Rupert with his ambition and English charm.

Grief and the secrets it reveals
Reviewed: 09-01-22
This felt like a soap opera at times but was an interesting look into grief and how that brings secrets out. It does fluid time changes and was occasionally difficult to know what was happening, but I think that was because I was listening and not physically reading.

This wasn't quite my favorite. I love the storyline, but the execution left a lot to be desired. Plus we still haven't determined if our main girl is or isn't related to the Hawthorne's and now she's making out with them? Unless I missed something which is possible.

Story
A boy and girl from different worlds will meet in yet another... Eliza’s life has been fair. She’s got a good family, she’s the star of the basketball team, and Chris, her crush, is coming around. School’s a breeze—with exception to English class. English is more of a squall...but soon she’ll face much bigger strife than a blemished GPA. For Milo, things have been harder. Talented though he is as an artist, his nerdy gamer reputation proceeds him, and, wholly lacking in confidence, he can’t imagine the likes of Eliza returning the feelings he’s fostered.

High schoolers Milo and Eliza each receive a book with their names in it. These books transport them to a magical realm, where they become the main characters.
I was uncertain about this book for the first half. As much as I love romances, I didn't exactly like the blooming relationship between our leads. Milo just kept mentioning how hot Eliza looked, and Eliza herself didn't seem to care about a relationship. But then love factored into one part of their adventure, and suddenly love mattered to each of them.
I did like the twist that came near the end. I wasn't expecting it. I am a little disappointed that there isn't a sequel, simply due to a small prophetic story that was told. I'd love for Brittni to continue Milo and Eliza's story at some point!

A cute romance
Reviewed: 03-05-22
This romance follows Jolene and Tucker as they co-own the Magnolia Inn. They fix it up while dealing with personal issues that bring them closer together.
This was a cute story, but not one I especially loved. Tucker was dealing with his wife's death and had turned to alcohol, while Jolene deals with living up to how her family used to run the inn. The voices the narrator used for each character were interesting, but sometimes over the top. Plus, I didn't connect with Tucker continually hearing his wife's voice. I know it was supposed to be his thoughts of letting her go, but it just seemed unnecessary and obnoxious.
Jolene was feisty, but that felt like that was it. We didn't get much of her life other than her mother dying and fleeting moments of her childhood at the inn. I did enjoy the tension between Jolene and Tucker, especially when it centered around his alcoholism. Once they finally got together it was cute, but it was sadly only the last few chapters.

It's a truth that 17-year-old clock mechanic Danny Hart knows all too well; his father has been trapped in a Stopped town east of London for three years. Though Danny is a prodigy who can repair not only clockwork but the very fabric of time, his fixation with staging a rescue is quickly becoming a concern to his superiors.

This was a unique world where time is controlled through clock towers. Danny is a mechanic, trained by his father. The same father that has been stuck in time for the last three years when a clock tower stopped working.
I enjoyed this alternate reality so much. You could imagine this world existing and even possibly being our own world with hidden secrets. Danny was such a sympathetic character after dealing with the loss of his father.
And the romance between him and the clock spirit Colton was adorable and heartbreaking. Colton can't leave him tower, and Danny can't just stay. But the way they tried to make it work was beautiful and will make you hope any love you have can be just as selfish yet selfless.
I cannot wait to see how thus story continues.

In this novella we watch Hale and his family as they run for freedom during a coup. They travel with an unlikely band of pirates and have many dangerous adventures.
It took me a moment to get into this story because I absolutely despised Hale. He was such a cocky playboy who was whiny and that seemed like he would have no redeeming qualities. But then tragedy strikes and he actually grows into a likeable character. He's headstrong and persistent, as well as having a heart of gold.
All in all, I enjoyed this prequel and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
