Story
When Beth moves to the beautiful island of Bermuda to set up a tax haven for her family, she never expects to be drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse. As the body count on the island rises with blackmail, corruption, arson, catfishing, and sex tapes intertwined, Beth teams up with locals Tony Durant, a former attorney for the Ministry of Justice in London, and Serena Steede, a local investigator, to form a small law firm to defend the accused.

Cringeworthy at best

Pretty sure James Patterson has given up. The writing earns a C-… for a fourth grade assignment. The voice actors were reminiscent of my second grade performance of Johnny Appleseed where we all did our best to read off of a script. The character for the judge and her “tough girl” persona was laughable at best. This is one of those, “Thank you, Audible, for providing the speed-read option” books. Do yourself a favor just skip this one altogether

Story
Two years out of law school, Nick Rey is already on the fast track at a hot Miami law firm. But his dreams of success are overshadowed when his father, Matthew, is abducted while on a business trip to Colombia. The guerillas demand an impossible $3 million ransom - the exact sum Matthew's kidnap-and-ransom insurance policy covers. The insurance company suspects fraud, however, and refuses to pay. And, as Nick soon learns, it isn't the guerillas who hold the key to his father's survival.

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

No hook
Reviewed: 06-26-24
I liked how I was able to find out that I can keep up with the x2.0 setting. Story not only made zero sense, but there was no real hook to keep me interested. I gave it a shot though, hoping it would get better. Nope. X2.0 was not fast enough…

Story
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Look like Slater is running out of ideas. This one dragged along for too long, and by the time the twist happened, it was not only completely unbelievable, it was also simply exhausting. Might be time for Slater and I to see other people…

Performances were good. The male voice reminded me of a, “I’m such a cool fireman and everyone should love me” type of persona. Female voice was great. Story was just, weird. I couldn’t even act shocked with the “twist” at the end since nothing even remotely made sense. Overall, I give it a solid, “meh”.

Story
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.
