Story
Tony Spilotro was the Mob's man in Las Vegas. A feared enforcer, the bosses knew Tony would do whatever it took to protect their interests. The "Little Guy" built a criminal empire that was the envy of mobsters across the country, and his childhood pal, Frank Cullotta, helped him do it. But Tony's quest for power and lack of self-control with women cost the Mob its control of Vegas; and Tony paid for it with his life.

Everything else that we needed to know about Chicagos Spilotro
Reviewed: 12-28-23
With me being a Chicagoan for my entire life, I’m very familiar with the History of the Outfit, as well as Spilotro, and it was great to hear everything that I didn’t know from behind the curtain, from such a reliable source. BTW, I just finished listening for my 2nd time!

Story
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anthony M. DeStefano presents the rise and fall of Vito Genovese in this first comprehensive biography of the legendary mafioso - from his childhood in Naples, Italy, and the beginnings of his bullet-ridden criminal career on lower Manhattan's mean streets, through his self-exile in the mid-1930s back to his homeland where he ran a black market operation under the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini, and his return to New York where Genovese made a fortune as the head of an illegal narcotics empire.

One of the WORST Mob stories EVER!!!
Reviewed: 08-17-21
I pride myself on a higher scale with my knowledge of the New York Mob. And the story of Vito Genovese was a story that ive been waiting on for years! Or at least I thought that I did. Come to find out that Vito's story was actually very boring, and was pretty much summed up in the introduction. The remaining chapters were built off of the stories of the other well known members of the New York Mob, and long drawn out moments in the court room.
The narrator? Wow his voice was irritating!
Bottom line, purchase the Valachi Papers from Peter Maas. Thats a much better story dealing with the same characters.

Story
One of the most feared Chicago mobsters, Sam Giancana, clawed his way to the top of the Mafia hierarchy by starting as a hit man for Al Capone. He was known as one of the best vehicle escape artists, a tenacious business man, and a ruthless killer. He partied with major stars such as Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe and did business with agents ranging from the CIA to the Vatican to the shah of Iran. When politician Joe Kennedy gave Giancana the chance to use mob muscle to get his son John elected, Giancana jumped at the task.

A Definite Must Listen!

I have to admit that i am more than slightly biased, especially seeing that im a Chicago underworld enthusiast. But this audiobook gave me everything that I didn't know that I was looking for times two!! All of the under the table info was awesome to hear, and I wish that it could've been about 7 hours longer. The narration was on point, and to say that I loved it was an understatement.
Great Job!!
