Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. I can't say much without giving the storyline away. I purchased this book upon a friend's recommendation. We both enjoyed it and I think you will too.

Interesting view of the after human life
Reviewed: 06-28-24
I listened to the book for a book club. It is interesting. Sometimes, it was hard to wrap my head around the information, but that is exactly why one might want to read/listen to the book. It doesn't follow the standard dogma of what that other part of soulful living might be like.
I found the meditation, getting someone ready to die, rather uncomfortable. I kept wondering, if anyone would be able to remember any of it during the dying process, and I like to think of passing away, not so heady and structured.
Overall, it was interesting and a shorter listen than many books.

Good for beginners and others
Reviewed: 01-05-24
I found this presentation to be clear and read at a more reasonable pace than some audio books.
There are great tips for beginners and some ideas, even a seasoned Medium like myself, can use.
Although there are example stories, the book isn't just filled with those as many books are. There are also exercises to work with
This book will be a handy reference for beginners, but other Mediums shouldn't shy away from listening too. Mentoring from others in your field can help you expand your own work.

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

No real surprises but a deeper understanding
Reviewed: 05-27-23
As the Spare reached for his father's comforting hand, my heart weeped. I suspect that flashing, clicking trauma may have been where anxiety and ptsd began.
Escaping the restrictions of the royal cocoon seemed more driven by growing despair at the lack of support, than the media mockery of naughty, rebellious, betrayer and other destructive narratives.
I wasn't surprised to hear his wife's beauty and charisma was too close to his mother's and irritated the woman determined to be queen.
I found the story of The Spare to contain no real surprises, but to explain more deeply how he didnt run away, but ran toward love, safety, and happiness with his family.
I found it a bonus that Prince Harry recorded the book himself.
I actually ordered the book because I had a credit to use, but I enjoyed it much more than I expected. I'm glad I ordered it.

It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.

Not as fast paced as the first book, still good
Reviewed: 04-12-23
I found the first book in this series, literally a page turner. The second book (this one), I used an audible credit.
I found this story line slower and without the same energy of the first book. The twists were in this book, also, but were a bit drawn out for my taste.
The story line jumps several years, so it takes a while to know what the main character has been doing. The cliff hanger from the first book wasn't sufficiently tied to the second book, but eventually the reader was glimpsed an unclear connection with characters.
It felt like an entire book should have gone between the two books, but there was eventually enough storyline to partially bring it together.
Overall, the book was a good followup to the first book. If there is a third, perhaps the gaps will be filled in.
I did enjoy this audible version more than most of the audibles. The narrator gave each character a voice and varied inflections and speed of the presentation, rather than racing in a monotone to the end, as some do.
If you like mystery storylines, I think you will enjoy the story of Millie.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Loved every minute

I loved the presentation. I loved the story even more.
The story of the Marsh Girl winds like a swamp stream across time and space. It bobs your emotions, tugging at your heart strings, capturing them, but never letting them off the hook. It is a story of loss and triumph, despair and found joy, mystery and simplicity. The lost child, the found woman-The Marsh Girl. The love she craved, but couldnt accept, the acceptance she wanted, until she no longer cared. As mysterious from beiginning, as to the end. As ellusive as the wild creatures of the marsh.
I found myself crying in empathy as
her realization and understanding of unconditional love surfaced. Even so, it did not chamge the warrior she had been forced to become.
Until the last words, she remained, the curious, brilliant, mysterious Marsh Girl.

The story is okay. I'm not a fan of the delivery.
Reviewed: 06-08-22
While the story is okay, it's a bit predictable. However, it wasnt meant to be a twisting, turning mystery, so I'm not reviewing it from that perspective. Just like in real life where the wicked seem to never quite fail, this villian comes out of his own doings to rise from his ashes. Luckily, so do the other characters who innocently become entangled with him.
While the story is okay, I found the delivery a bit numbing. It was delivered in a quick pace that left no moment to savor parts of the story, or add drama to the presentation. I would have preferred some variance of delivery.
Its worth a listen.
