Story
Episode Thirteen takes them to every ghost hunter's holy grail: the Paranormal Research Foundation. This brooding, derelict mansion holds secrets and clues about bizarre experiments that took place there in the 1970s. It's also famously haunted, and the team hopes their scientific techniques and high tech gear will prove it. But as the house begins to reveal itself to them, proof of an afterlife might not be everything Matt dreamed of.

Strong start….INSUFFERABLE finish

started off good even though claire was the BANE of this story. what an unlikeable character and i know that’s the point but it’s almost done too well..like to the point of the stories detriment. so much so that her character arc falls on deaf ears. i don’t really care about her “coming to enlightenment” moment because she was genuinely that annoying throughout the entire story. this was like an as above so below copy but worse and if you somehow got zak bagans to give the okay for his entire shows’ premise. i just couldn’t respect the story because i cannot stand the characters. however, as far as production? very well executed. i like the idea of HOW the story is told and all the sound effects and music. i think that’s the saving grace. this only hits as an audiobook. i would have shelved this if i read it paperback.

favorite book of all of 2024

i will admit i was frustrated at first when listening but then i realized it wasn’t by the book itself it was genuine evoked emotion from the writer. characters written well enough to actually upset me.l and by the ending i was having an imaginary dance party set to Kool and the gang’s- Celebration. this was bones and all if it had the horror it desperately tried to achieve. the scenes were depicted so wonderfully that i shivered at certain times…but in that same moment the presence of love and hope were somehow maintained in the story and warmed me right back up. what a lovely lovely book

Story
Dead things have been found in the fields of Enfaire, a God-fearing town north of Reams. Not just dead things, but twisted forms…unholy shapes. And there are rumors of a blasphemous union and of fell creatures that haunt the night. Yet even as plague and witch pyres blacken the sky, the town remains untouched by the malady that has already claimed thousands and will claim thousands more. It is here, in Enfaire, that an old Franciscan friar and his ward take shelter from a storm. It is here, in a little town on the edge of civilization, that they will have their faith truly tested.

i truly enjoyed the first story. everything about it was attention grabbing and immersive. the plot, the reading all felt like i was right there. However…. the second story just couldn’t keep my attention because i feel like the plot was lost at some point. the last story wasn’t really immersive at all, felt like something i’ve heard before. really wish there was a full book/continuation of the first story it was excellent in every way

such a riveting tale with so many twists and turns. satisfyingly frustrating and overall a fantastic listen, especially when paired with a copy of the book for the full effect. the readers voice kept me captivated and really brought the story and all of its characters to life almost individually. absolutely brilliant and i’m so glad i listened
