We look forward to Robin Cook novels but this one was bad! We chose it for a road trip listen and after less than 2 hours, we turned it off. It was basically a rant.

Fortunately we had a back up book downloaded.

I live near the Land of the Noonday Sun and found the book to be authentic in setting. I could picture the twisting roads and the the busy life as an outfitter. Cassandra and her previously unknown stepbrother must find a way to work together to satisfy the conditions of a will with a million dollar payoff. Cassandra is enchanted with the beauty of Nantahala but amid the beauty a disturbed and devious enemy lurks.

The action in this title picks up where book 4 left off. Finn's sometime partner, Mary has missed their meet up date and Finn is worried. But he has more to worry about than Mary. The Russians are on his trail and he is in a heap of trouble. Loyalties are called into question and once again I am left not trusting Mary.

This author is known for his complex plot lines and devious characters and this book did not disappoint. It was hard to tell the truth from the lies as the lies were very good. The reader must be patient but patience will be rewarded.

A web of intrigue and duplicity is being woven around Finn. Will he be lured into the trap or outwit them all? Friends and foes at times seem to be interchangeable. Even after 3 novels, I'm still not sure if I trust Mary. The level of action in this series did not fade with book 3. I am looking forward to book 4.

J.R. Finn pumps up the action from the opening chapter in this second book in the series. Mary, his sometime partner disappeared at the end of book one and Finn isn't sure he will meet up with her again. Even without Mary bad guys are stalking Finn but is wily and has a few tricks up his sleeve.Bad guys are the least of his troubles though, as Finn finds himself with two powerful women in his life, one has his back, the other may be setting him up. Which one can he trust?

I am looking forward to book three. Overall this story is an excellent listen and even though I do find the narrator's voice to be a bit flat and monotonous at times it doesn't prevent me from enjoying the book.

Forget being a page turner, this is a miles spinner. We listen to Lee Child books on road trips and this one made the miles fly by.

Early in the book I thought the story was going to play out quickly and felt disappointed. To my delight, the story took on some unexpected twists that did not follow the usual historical romance template, making it a pleasurable read as the hero and heroine faced unusual obstacles.

Would you listen to Spinster again? Why?

As a rule I don't reread a book or listen more than once to an audio book, but I do think I would give this book a second go.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A welcome state.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this spirited spinster who refuses to let her shameful state define her. She sets out to make her own place in the world with no concessions to society. Her handsome neighbor infuriates her even as she is drawn to him. This spinster was not a vapor fainting female and I enjoyed her story with all of its twists and turns.

What made the experience of listening to Stealthy Steps the most enjoyable?

Stealthy Steps was a fun journey into the imaginative world of nanotechnology.

What about Reba Buhr’s performance did you like?

She has a nice voice for narration but at times I felt her voice was to Young Adult.

Any additional comments?

It was an even read with tension holding consistent in the story line.
