Always a delight!

What a wonderful series. I love the narration the; narrators voice is incredibly versatile. The thread of characters feels so familiar and create a true appetite for more stories. This series is as good as comfort food!

Historia
Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

Insightful and delightful
Revisado: 10-20-10
Powerful insight into how mental illness affects lives on so many levels. Very well written - very early in the story I questioned whether or nor I would be able to listen to some of the painful momens in the story. The author then gives you hope that perhaps there could be a silver lining in the story - however, there were so many times one would guess the shoe would drop - it became a cat and mouse game. The characters were well developed and you will look forward to hopefully another appearace of many of the characters. Excellent narration!

Excellent resource and reinforcement...
Revisado: 09-25-10
Anyone with even the slightest prospect of ever becoming a caregiver will benefit from this book. I have read Gail Sheehy's books before - she ia an excellent writer however, this book, in my estimation, is priceless! I am a beginner on the caregiver path - this book has given me strength, and truly helped me become more focused in compassion and less of an enabler. If you, or someone you know is dealing with caregiving issues, this is the best gift you could give. Audio especially because you don't have time to sit down and read too often.

Struck my funny bone!
Revisado: 09-25-10
Oh my! First, Paul Hecht is marvelous and fully understands the foibles of these delightful characters. Alexander McCall Smith has obviously drawn on his life-experience and has created fully illustrated individuals so outrageous and hilarious... one is drawn to listen to their finer points over and over. I have listened to this book many times. I have recommended it to many people and have been amazed at the few who just didn't "get it." If you "get it" you'll love it! Highly recommend it and hope for many more sequels!

Outstanding Narration
Revisado: 02-12-08
I was not sure this book was really what I wanted to listen to over several hours. However, the narrator was SO wonderful, so compelling that I wanted to listen to every word. Some of it is uncomfortable but all of it is so important to understand in the overall design of our world and all of the people who populate it.I will probably listen again because the narrator weaves the stories and voices so well it is fascinating to get so quickly caught up in a story. Bravo!!!
