Story
Regarded throughout the English-speaking world as the standard English translation of the Holy Scriptures, the JPS TANAKH has been acclaimed by scholars, rabbis, lay leaders, Jews, and Christians alike. The JPS TANAKH is an entirely original translation of the Holy Scriptures into contemporary English, based on the masoretic (the traditional Hebrew) text. It is the culmination of three decades of collaboration by academic scholars and rabbis, representing the three largest branches of organized Judaism in the US.

Not a good audio format
Reviewed: 05-15-23
Let me make it clear that I have no problem with either the translation or the narration both of which are perfectly fine.
My complaint is about the format. The text into audio “chapters” that have no description or title, some contain 5-10 chapters, some contain only one. And there is no announcements of chapter transitions, so whenever you are listening to one book, there is no possible way of knowing where you are in that book, am I hearing Isaiah chapter 4 or chapter 64, there is no possible way of knowing.

Story
Riley “Blues Boy” King (1925-2015) was born into deep poverty in Jim Crow Mississippi. Wrenched away from his sharecropper father, B.B. lost his mother at age 10, leaving him more or less alone. Music became his emancipation from exhausting toil in the fields. Inspired by a local minister’s guitar and by the records of Blind Lemon Jefferson and T-Bone Walker and encouraged by his cousin, the established blues man Bukka White, B.B. taught his guitar to sing in the unique solo style that, along with his relentless work ethic and humanity, became his trademark.

A CD would be a nice addition
Reviewed: 02-09-23
Great book, but it would be nice if it came with a CD or a link to a page to download digital versions of some of the songs discussed, if it would be too expensive, I would be willing to buy a compilation album separately. Music must be heard to be appreciated it is not enough to read description.

Story
Listening to the Bible will change the way you understand scripture. The stories and poems and instructions comes in through the ears and consume your whole being as God's word becomes part of a living experience. The Common English Bible is not simply a revision or update of an existing translation. It is a bold new translation designed to meet the needs of Christians as they work to build a strong and meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

The Worst
Reviewed: 08-10-21
It is almost as if they went out of their way to make the least interesting and most pedestrian Bible translation ever. Every reader will have his own of the worst verse, my favorite was the use of 'you have God's DNA' in 2 Peter.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

This isn't history, it's agitprop. Virtually nothing this guy says is accurate. He mischarscterizes the position of every person considered, both his heroes and his villains.

Then, one morning, she is kidnapped, interviewed, and hired as an administrative assistant by the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection. Superheroes for hire, using their powers for good. Hilarious and Fun

This is on the funniest stories I have ever read. It may only be an Audible original, but it is good enough to be published in book format, and maybe even adapted into a movie or TV series.
