Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Great read

I am not one to grab books that hit the market hot, so I delayed reading this. I'm disappointed I did. It has great thoughts on how to prioritize what you value and not stress about what you can't change or don't need to worry about. I'd highly recommend this to anyone.

Story
Our most commonly held formula for success is broken. Conventional wisdom holds that once we succeed, we’ll be happy; that once we get that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. But the science reveals this formula to be backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around.

Great and entertaining book. It was funny but really thought provoking in how we approach life. I'd absolutely recommend it and see myself listening again in future.

Story
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

This book is full of heart felt real life experiences. At first I wasn't sure I liked rhe narrator but was hooked me in no time. It was thought provoking about how people face death and the experience of losing someone as well as how Hospice works.

Story
They reach the shore, barks and joyful laughter swallowed by the crashing waves. Suddenly, an odd-looking object in the sky draws closer. As dark clouds loom, a flicker of unease crosses Scotty’s face. Before he can react, an eerie glow surrounds both boy and dog. In an instant, they vanish without a trace. Now aboard an alien ship, Scotty faces a reality far from home. The walls breathe, the corridors pulse and his fear deepens.

cliff hanger no sequel

I enjoyed this book and found it fast paced but interesting. Great Narrator and the end opened it up to so many possibilities for a sequel....however...it ends in a major cliffhanger (2018) and there is no sequel as of 2024. althou

Story
The history of Guinness, one of the world's most famous brands, reveals the noble heights and generosity of a great family and an innovative business. It began in Ireland in the mid-1700s. The water in Ireland, indeed throughout Europe, was famously undrinkable, and the gin and whiskey that took its place devastated civil society. It was a disease-ridden, starvation-plagued, alcoholic age.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a great walk through the history of the industrial revolution as it relates to Guinness and the Guinness family as well as care for the modern worker in Ireland. The story history and tragedies of the Guinness family are remarkable and intriguing. The narrator's voice was pleasant and I appreciated his numeration of the book.
