If you can get beyond the “fillers”, you will absolutely love the story.

Enjoyable. I wish the “fillers” were a bit more engaging but overall the audiobook was absolutely pleasant. I did contemplate at times, when the “fillers” bored me, to move on but something—beyond my control—wanted me to reach the finish. And, hindsight short, I’m glad I finished the audiobook because it was definitely worth it.

Story
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
In Volume 2 of Arabian Nights we return to Sultan Shahriyar’s palace where Scheherezade is using her spellbinding storytelling abilities to save both her and her sister’s lives. As much as the Sultan wants to kill her, each night he is drawn in by her tales and spares them. Scheherezade weaves a long, winding and exciting tale about Sinbad the Sailor, a reckless young man who has inherited his father’s wealth and spends it foolishly. His debts eventually force him to leave Baghdad and find his way alone.

First book was on a different league

What a let down vs. first book. Should have stuck with multiple stories with different characters as was true in the first book. Volume 2 focused on one character following a single story.
Truly disappointing

What a great audiobook…having listened to over 200 audiobooks, this one places top 5. The story telling is second to none. While some listeners might view the content “adult” sensitive, I found it perfectly acceptable.
The cast, collectively, does an amazing job with the presentation. The stories were easy to visualize, and more importantly, follow along. I might have spaced out only a handful of times before catching myself and then rewinding the portion I missed.
Hopefully the other volumes are promising as this masterpiece.

Randomly found this series and I'm glad that I did. The narration is great, the story is original and comedic moments throughout the series. It's a quick listen...I recommend at least listening to the first two parts in order to form your opinion.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Story
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.
