Story
Why do women live longer than men? Why do women have menopause? Why are women more likely to get Alzheimer’s? Why do girls score better at every academic subject than boys until puberty, when suddenly their scores plummet? And does the female brain really exist? In Eve, Cat Bohannon answers questions scientists should have been addressing for decades. With boundless curiosity and sharp wit, she covers the past 200 million years to explain the specific science behind the development of the female sex.

Amazing, but didn’t stick the landing for me.

I wish I’d learned the wealth of information in this book years ago! Great factual narrative and audio narration. That said, the conclusion of the book that implies sexism is a natural product of our evolution, really just doesn’t stack up in the context of everything else I know about history. That said, highly recommend the rest of the book!

Great narration, odd story selections

A series of well- performed short historical fiction stories with woman protagonists. Several don’r relate to the title, “Blaze,” which to me implies being a trailblazer. Two of the stories center on women who murder - I guess that’s supposed to count as trailblazing?

Story
Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him?

Cute romcom

Enjoyable romcom with a narrator that does the voices well. The characters do come off as bit immature at times, but it’s a light-hearted low-stakes story - good for a summer roadtrip or anyone who likes ren faires.
