Historia
Barry Laverty, M.B., can barely find the village of Ballybucklebo on a map when he first sets out to seek gainful employment there, but already he knows that there is nowhere he would rather live than in the emerald hills and dales of Northern Ireland. The proud owner of a spanking-new medical degree and little else in the way of worldly possessions, Barry jumps at the chance to secure a position as an assistant in a small rural practice. At least until he meets Dr. Fingal Flahertie O'Reilly.

Smiled for hours!
Revisado: 02-26-15
Where does An Irish Country Doctor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top!
What did you like best about this story?
All the different characters. Felt like I was in the little Irish village
Have you listened to any of John Keating’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
None ~ but that won't last long! Every character came to life. What a gift he has for reading life into each one.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Smiled for hours listening, even laughed out loud several times.
Any additional comments?
Felt like I was sitting with an old friend, Maeve Binchey. Sweet storyline, wonderful Irish voices. Miss not having any more Binchey books to look forward to. BUT, now have another stack to listen to from Patrick Taylor. A great find.

Nothing like the descriptive!
Revisado: 05-12-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you are looking for religion bashing ~ this one's for you!
Has World and Town turned you off from other books in this genre?
I will stick with better trusted authors. I always want to read new authors in the genres I enjoy. This one didn't do it.
What three words best describe Janet Song’s voice?
Realistic, believable, pleasant
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from World and Town?
Just the whole premise of the book!
Any additional comments?
It is SOOO disappointing to read the description of the book and then it is nothing like the sales pitch. The characters in this book spend the time questioning the "church lady" and her intentions in befriending the young character. She influences her to burn down a building, lie to everyone, point suspicions at others. Then the question is asked about the young girl, "Is she becoming a creationist?" Horrors!!! There are enough religion bashing books who proclaim to do just that. We don't need these closet ones who take the money and sell a bill of goods.
I really wish I could get my money back!!!

Historia
With this anthology, best-selling author Brad Meltzer introduces 21 original stories from today’s most prominent mystery writers. In Laura Lippman’s "Waco 1982", a young reporter stuck with a seemingly mundane assignment on lost-and-found boxes unwittingly discovers a dark crime. In Joseph Finder’s "Heirloom", a scheming neighbor frightens the new couple on the block with an unnerving tale of buried treasure. In R. L. Stine’s "High Stakes", a man on his honeymoon gets drawn into a bizarre bet involving a coffin, a bet he may pay for with his life.

Not the best
Revisado: 04-07-14
Would you try another book from Brad Meltzer (editor) and/or the narrators?
Like Brad Meltzer but this compilation wasn't as good as most of the Mystery Writers selections. Disappointing.
Would you recommend Mystery Writers of America Presents The Mystery Box to your friends? Why or why not?
Probably not. Just not that entertaining,
What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?
With this much variety, there were some really good and some not so much!
Was Mystery Writers of America Presents The Mystery Box worth the listening time?
Maybe
Any additional comments?
The compilations I have read before have been great! This one was kind of blah.

WOW when did Amy Tan start writing porn?
I wait and wait for her next book BUT this one was not worth the wait! So disappointing.
What was most disappointing about Amy Tan’s story?
Graphic, gratuitous sex all through the book.

Disappointment for me. Sadness for her.
