This series had the potential to be really cool, but the longer I listen to it the more I can't stand Orlathe. She is the most naive, ignorant, and frivolous woman in the world. And uuummmm she killed R?!? That's the one she wanted to kill?!? Her "promised", which she can't stand and has seen him do horrific things but let's them go for Lord only knows what reason, literally took her to an underground prison/grave but she didn't ask how he knew about it or where it was. She let him manipulate her time and time again. He showed her who he was, a psycho, and she saw it enough to start digging to find the tunnels and investigating. All of that and it took one conversation from the manipulator to get her to through away 19 years without asking a single question-and then she kills him?? Not only did she stab him through the heart, but didn't use a regular blade-no!...She used the black claw that is the only thing, apparently, that kills everything. "Self loathing"? Please... she's a selfish, delusional girl with no redeeming qualities. She is doing this for the ships to save people?!? She saved one boy from drowning, that's it. Oh and the only thing that had to do with ships was falling off one. How many times does she have to hear the manipulator make excuses and change terms until not even when he says "no ships" doesn't shake her out of her own stupidity? No.

I listen to an insane amount of books and I gotta say I've only hated a few and this one is up there with the "hates." This book ends so abruptly with so many things and story lines left until out resolved it leaves me frustrated... Why did I have to listen to so many things for all of it to go nowhere and mean nothing?!? This series is a nightmare. I LOVE Troy Duran which is the only reason I listened for so long, but sometimes even Troy isn't enough to save a run away train.

Oh well, on to the next adventure. Good luck if you attempt to get through this series. Good luck and God speed, you'll need all the help you can get!

Could not finish... I cannot stand Jules. What kind of terrible person does that to someone?!? That level of selfishness infuriates me. Just wow.

Kit is the best kind of sexy man. He does not deserve the level of manipulative she beast that is Jules.

As always, Jacob Morgan is one of the greatest narrators. I literally choose books based on the narrator and "yes please-more!"
