So fun! DUEL narration (not duet) but fabulous narrators ♥️ closed door romance with humor & mystery! 🚨 NO spoiler review 🥰🎄
Revisado: 12-29-24
I’ll be honest, I have been on a duet narration kick and the sample of this book made it sound like it was duet narration… it is not. BUT don’t let that stop you from purchasing this book! Saskia did a wonderful job with her female parts AND the male parts as well. She was new to me but was fabulous! Zachary Webber is always on my short list of favorite narrators. He fit Ethan’s character really well, I thought! He narrates his chapters, but doesn’t have as many as Saskia does.
When I read/listen to romance it’s usually open door, this one was closed (aka no graphic sex scenes) and it didn’t feel like it was missing anything! It focused more on their romantic connection and it may have detracted from the mystery element of the book which a majority of the focus was on.
A great blend of humor, mystery, and romance (the pining! Swoon. ☺️) highly recommend this one! If you don’t listen to duel narration, it’s worth reading a physical copy for sure. I’ll be checking out Ally Carter’s other books now! ♥️
✨ Main characters names: Maggie & Ethan (for those who don’t like romance books that have family members or ex’s names in them haha)

I’ve been desperately looking forward to Christmas in my family’s snowy alpine chalet. Two blissful weeks of skiing, eating, and sneaking off for 'naps' to listen to my favourite audio erotica star. Yes, the man who warms my bed each night may have no idea I exist, but that doesn't stop me fantasising that his spicy stories and filthy words are for my ears only. It's set to be the most relaxing Christmas ever. Until my brother shows up… with an unexpected guest.

Amazing duet narration! 🎙️ ✨ short and sweet (and spicy 🥵 ) Christmas romance 🎄 ♥️ 🔥 NO spoiler review
Revisado: 12-09-24
I’ll be honest, I bought this book for the duet narration because I’m in that mode and it’s hard to go back to duel narration when you’re on a roll 😭 I’ve never listened to these narrators before but they were both SO SO good! Adams voice is HOT 🥵 I wish he narrated more romance novels! And Evelyn was the PERFECT Hannah. Her voice is soft and smooth. Both actors had great inflection, tone, ect. They adjusted their voices so well for the other family members that I almost forgot it was just the 2 of them recording! The narration absolutely determines whether or not I will buy an audiobook and Holly June Smith picked FANTASTIC talented voice actors! 👏🏼
If you’ve never listened to a duet audio before, do yourself a favor and try this one!
The story was lacking a *little* something for me, but it’s possible that’s just because this was short book/ novella so there wasn’t as much character development as I’m used to. It was still fluffy and sweet, with an ideal Christmas location to really drive the magic home! I just wanted a little more connection between them.
There are snippets of “audio erotica” that one of the character narrates. And of course sex scenes are described as well. If that’s not your thing, this may not be the book for you. But don’t yuck others yum! Just look for a closed door romance 😉
It was a great amount of steam imo and I was looking for a book with duet narration, fluffy warm Christmas vibes and hot scenes. This fit the bill quite well! 🌶️

Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

Best Christmas romance I’ve ever listened to! 🎄 Full cast was ✨ perfection ✨ a NO spoiler review 🥰
Revisado: 12-05-24
Admittedly, I’m a HUGE Meghan Quinn fan, so it should come as no surprise that I loved this book. BUT there’s a reason this book got on to the NYT best seller list! It was so fun! Not to throw shade, but I feel like Christmas romances can get really cheesy or predictable. Mrs. Quinns story (no pun intended) does NOT have this problem. The story was fun, well paced, FUNNY (as always), creative and yes, spicy as well 😏 it made me yearn to go to “Kringle” for Christmas! Meghan really created the most magical sounding place.
🎧 the full cast narration was PERFECTION! I’m a big fan of all of these narrators already so it was an easy sell for me, but it really gave this book extra oomph to listen vs read. That’s not always the case, but these narrator choices were so so good. Special shoutout to Vanessa Edwin because WOWZA she was the PERFECT story and her impeccable inflection made me laugh out loud multiple times. This is a MUST LISTEN even if you read the book already! I know duet/ full cast books are more expensive and more difficult to coordinate, but I’m so grateful Meghan goes through with it because it makes the books SOOOOO much fun to listen to. ☺️
🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️.5 / 5

Trauma nurse Aly Cappellucci doesn’t need any more kinks. She likes the one she’s landed on just fine. To her, nothing could top the masked men she follows online. Unless one of those men was shirtless, heavily tattooed, and waiting for her in her bedroom. She dreams about being hunted by one in particular, of him chasing her down and doing deliciously dark things to her willing body. She never could have guessed that by sending one drunken text, those dreams would become her new reality.

Duet really brought this story to life! 🔥 no spoilers
Revisado: 11-17-24
This was such a fun listen, in part because the narrators were so good! Elena Wolf was a great Allie and Jacob Morgan was 🥵 as always. He really made Josh’s character feel real with the little added chuckles or deep breaths. Those things aren’t written into the dialogue but it fit so well with what was actually written that it felt more like listening to a movie during his parts than it did listening to someone read a book aloud.
Parts of the story felt a little chaotic to me, details that didn’t quite feel like they connected to anything? But that could just be me. The story as a whole was great.
Yes it has a lot of “dark romance” aspects, hence the trigger warning for stalking, CNC, ect. But this is the first story I’ve heard that had those dark romance themes from the MMC who is ALSO a total cinnamon roll/golden retriever. I thought it was a really cute aspect of the male love interest. It’s rare you get to read a character who is BOTH. Usually if they do dark romance related things they’re dark, broody, morally black. This was a nice mix that felt more realistic to how multifaceted people really are.
Some parts made me laugh and it was definitely steamy! Definitely worth a credit or purchase :)

She hated him, he wanted her; she was too good to be true. But a woman can be great … and terrible too.

The female main character is morally gray and we love to see it 🔥 no spoilers!
Revisado: 10-14-24
I listened to hooked and enjoyed it, but unfortunately the second book wasn’t my favorite. I wasn’t sure about this one but I’m glad I gave it a chance!
I feel like it’s somewhat rare for this genre to have the FMC as the “villain” or as a morally grey character so this was a fun listen. Evelin had bad b!tch energy and I LOVED it. I think it made her relationship with Nick more balanced than most dark romances tend to be.
🎧 I haven’t listened to either of these narrators before but they both did a phenomenal job! Vivian really made evelin come to life. Her acting was great! And Robert has a lovely deep voice that upped Nicolas’s 🔥 factor.
There are little details pulled from the Wizard of Oz for this story but it’s not really a retelling, it stands on its own.

A fun retelling for those who love the villain. 🧚 some 🔥 scenes and good narration! (duel, NOT duet)
Revisado: 09-29-24
I enjoyed this audiobook! I think I may have enjoyed it more because I read one of these reviews prior to listening that told me not to overthink it and just let it be a fun read. I second that suggestion.
If you’re expecting a masterpiece of a novel, I’m not sure this is what you’re looking for. But if you’re looking for a modern retelling of a classic story, where the villain has a heart and gets the girl, mixed with a little mystery and some 🌶️ scenes? This is the book for you.
🎧 I’m kinda picky about narration and while I prefer duet (who doesn’t?) I understand it’s both complex and expensive to record that way. This was recorded as duel narration, and my biggest hang up was the male narrators portrayal of Wendy. It wasn’t a deal breaker though. And honestly his accent is HOT and seemed perfect for hook imo. The female narrator fit Wendy’s character well too! I think she did a smashing job with her hook accent. It matched the male narrators tone quite well.
TLDR: a kinda smutty, fun, retelling of Peter Pan that’s worth your time if you go in open minded and just enjoy the ride! 🧚

Did I think I was going to fall for my coach's daughter? The answer would be no. I'm still unclear on how I got into this predicament in the first place. A year ago, I was a man with one thought on his mind, the redhead I met at a hotel bar. Twelve months later, I found her. Unfortunately for me, she not only happens to be my very off-limits coach's daughter, but also . . . my new assistant and roommate.

A MUST listen!! Fun story and amazing cast. NO SPOILER review
Revisado: 07-01-24
Meghan Quinn happens to be my favorite author, so I already knew I would love this book but WOW the narration knocked this way out of the park! I feel so spoiled when I get to listen to a full cast narration. All the narrators play the characters they played in previous books and I HIGHLY recommend listening to them in order!! It makes it so much more fun.
I’ll probably re-read this again at some point with a physical copy, but I’m so glad I listened for my first time. The group chats with the girls were so funny because of the full cast narration.
If I could give this production more than 5 stars, I would! I know duet narration is expensive so I can’t imagine the time, money and coordination it takes to do a full cast audiobook but I’m SO grateful Meghan went for it. Get this book!! (But really, listen or read the previous books first for the best effect. You won’t regret getting to know all of the agitators 🩷)
Also, this book does have open door steamy scenes : so keep that in mind depending on whether or not that’s your thing! :)

Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right - I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team. And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel - I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me.

After listening to the first book in the briar u series I wasn’t sure if I would continue. Did I like it? Yes. Did I love it? Not really. BUT I’m glad I bought this book because I LOVED this one. I laughed and actually got choked up at some of the scenes. Elle Kennedy really made me fall in love with Jake & Brenna (and the whole crew!)
🎧 the narration was fabulous! Some of the reviews were knocking on Virginia Rose but I thought she was a PERFECT Brenna! Inflection, tone, and lots of little things make or break narration. She nailed it. Teddy Hamilton was amazing as always!
📗 the story was fabulous. It wasn’t JUST Jake and Brenna’s love story. It was also about friendship, parent child relationships, past trauma and women in the workplace. I think it made for a richer story by giving us several sides of each character, instead of just the “will they, won’t they”. The banter and chemistry between Jake and Brenna is 🔥 and it’s so fun to revisit the characters from the first book.
Worth a credit? YES YES YES.

This was such a cute book with fabulous narration. But don’t let the illustrated cover fool you, this book has 6+ open door 🌶️ scenes!🔥
🎧 the audio was fabulous. It doesn’t get better than duet narration! This one was a little different though, in that the main characters were duet narration but the people in their respective chapters were voiced by that narrator. I.e Vanessa did the voices for everyone in her chapter (male or female) EXCEPT the MMC, teddy would jump in and do his part. Vanessa & teddy are both talented voice actors and did great as always. (A minor gripe- can we please pronounce “tamale” correctly? 😩 as a Latina it drives me crazy)
📗I LOVED a taller MFC. So rarely in romance novels are the female main characters above 5’3 or 5’4. Shout out to the representation of taller gals! Also, the therapy rep was a breath of fresh air 🩷 worth a credit/purchase? Yes! Lauren does it again. 👏

Not my favorite story, BUT the narration kept me hooked ✨ (NO storyline spoilers but tropes listed at the end of the review)
Revisado: 01-08-24
✨I’m not going to lie, this wasn’t my favorite book, especially by Kayley Loring… but MAN, the narration was flawless! Every.single.actor. in this production knocked it out of the park.
👧 I think part of the reason I didn’t love the book was my own issue tbh. I just didn’t love that Macy came across as kind of a diva/brat and Miles was the quintessential “doormat” parent. There are plenty of book parents (and real parents!) who are amazing and give their kids exactly what they need without sheltering them from everything in the world. Aria mentions a couple of times how he coddles her, but it’s never really addressed. Miles never really comes around and realizes for himself that he can’t keep Macy in bubble wrap. That’s just my two cents 🤷🏻♀️ everyone has a different opinion when it comes to parenting (novel or otherwise).
🏄♀️Another minor gripe were mentions of aria being “child like” or called “little girl” but then talking about her super sexually. I am all for spicy scenes, and even some “good girls” but “good little girl” is maybe just a tad too far for my taste. Throw that in with the other descriptions and I had to mentally cringe 😬 and move on. If you ignore those (very few!) comments, the steamy scenes were 👌🏼 🔥
📱 The rest of the story was a fun rom com. I LOVED the Brodie family text (as always). Mama Brodie’s autocorrects get me every time. 😂
🎧 Jason Clarke was the perfect grumpy miles, his voice is 🥵. Mackenzie Cartwright somehow did aria AND Macy without them sounding too similar and I loved it! I was so happy with the huge cast of my favorite voice actors🩷 (and some new favorites as well!)
📚 Tropes:
- grumpy/sunshine
- (smallish) age gap
- single dad
- possessive MMC
- love at first sight
