Story
Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Page turner and amazing audio production

Great book! Creepy, mysterious, darkly funny in some parts. I don’t always love full cast recordings, I typically prefer a single reader, but this is really well done and I thought the cast truly added to the experience. I highly recommend this!

Story
In 2016, the fate of Paramount Global’s entertainment empire hung precariously in the balance. Its founder and head, ninety-three-year-old Sumner M. Redstone, was facing a very public lawsuit brought by a former romantic companion, Manuela Herzer, which placed Sumner’s deteriorating health and questionable judgment under a harsh light.

Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. Although this is well-sourced non-fiction by 2 highly regarded journalists, Unscripted, reads like a Hollywood movie. In fact, there are several sub plots in this book that would make terrific movies by themselves. Narrator does a great job. I consider this a very well-used Audible credit!

Story
Mike Rinder’s parents began taking him to their local Scientology center when he was five years old. After high school, he signed a billion-year contract and was admitted into Scientology’s elite inner circle, the Sea Organization. Brought to founder L. Ron Hubbard’s yacht and promised training in Hubbard’s most advanced techniques, Rinder was instead put to work swabbing the decks. Still, Rinder bought into the doctrine that his personal comfort was secondary to the higher purpose of Hubbard’s world-saving mission.

Mind-blowing account of a lifelong Scientology member at the highest ranks of the organization. Mike’s storytelling is extraordinary and his experience in the Sea Org is nothing short of horrifying. I have read Going Clear by Lawrence Wright (which is also excellent) but there are even more bombshells in Billion Years. If the topic is intriguing to you LISTEN to this!!

Story
Cast out of the royal court by Eleanor of Aquitaine, deemed too coarse and rough-hewn for marriage or courtly life, seventeen-year-old Marie de France is sent to England to be the new prioress of an impoverished abbey, its nuns on the brink of starvation and beset by disease. At first taken aback by the severity of her new life, Marie finds focus and love in collective life with her singular and mercurial sisters. In this crucible, Marie steadily supplants her desire for family, for her homeland, for the passions of her youth with something new to her.

Very impressed with the amazing narrator. It’s not an easy story to tell but she does it beautifully.
