Great book

I love this book mainly because it’s about Minecraft and unlike some other books it actually stuck to the real mechanics. I definitely recommend this to anyone thinking about buying it especially if you like Minecraft and/or Jack Black.

Story
Before he was responsible for some of the most iconic drumming in popular music, Stephen Morris grew up in 1960s and '70s industrial Macclesfield, on a quiet road that led seemingly to nowhere. Far removed from the bright lights and manic energy of nearby Manchester, he felt stifled by suburbia and feared he might never escape. Then he joined Joy Division - while they were still known as Warsaw - a pioneer of the rousing post-punk sound that would revolutionise 20th-century rock.

A great listen for fans & drummers

I genuinely enjoyed listening to this walk through the life of a drummer whose music enjoyed playing in the 80’s.
Heartfelt and funny and brutally honest.
Worth a listen or two.

Story
As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

All that you don’t want him to leave behind

The greatest Showman of the last 40 years shares the insights and stories that every U2 fan wants to hear and so much more.
For 38 years, U2 has been my favorite band. If, like me, you’ve read everything else you can get your hands on about the band and its lyrical head, you’ll cherish the warmth and personal vulnerability that Bono shares with us in his own words, in his own voice.
This is absolutely a must-listen, not just read, book.
As a guy who also found his true love & best friend as a teen, who is the mother of our beautiful children, hearing the depth of his love for Ali and their kids was my favorite part of it all.
Enjoy,
Bob :-)

Story
Most people know Andrew McCarthy from his movie roles in Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, Weekend at Bernie's, and Less Than Zero, and as a charter member of Hollywood's Brat Pack. That iconic group of ingenues and heartthrobs has come to represent both a genre of film and an era of pop culture. In his memoir, McCarthy focuses his gaze on that singular moment in time. The result is a revealing look at coming of age in a maelstrom, reckoning with conflicted ambition, innocence, addiction, and masculinity.

I had anticipated that I would enjoy hearing from someone who’s career I have followed going back to when Class was released.
Mr. McCarthy did not disappoint. If anything, the only negative to the book what is brevity. I hope he considers sharing portions of his life in as much as I would be fascinated to hear about your direction New York
And the steps you took to maintain sobriety. Add a minimum, I know I will find his travel books, but probably with relish.
Thank you for sharing, Andrew McCarthy.

Story
From the Mod revolution and the British Invasion of the 1960s, through the psychedelic era of the 1970s, and into the exuberance and excesses of stadium rock in the 1980s, Kenney Jones helped to build rock and roll as we know it. He was the beat behind three of the world's most enduring and significant bands. He wasn't just in the right place at the right time. Along with Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Charlie Watts, Jones is regarded as one of the greatest drummers of all time.

A true pleasure to read.

I wanted to read Kenney’s book for several reasons. I’ve been playing drums for a little more than 40 years and have been influenced by his approach to the kit and process. I’ve always been a rabid Who fan and having read Pete and Roger’s books, I was interested to hear Kenney’s perspective of those years following the loss of Keith.
What a joy to find such a treasure of an auto-biography in which the many years before his time with The Who are the real focus.
The fact that we both grew up with dyslexia, finding our escape in the music, was that much more of a reason his story rang true to me.
This was a fascinating sharing of honest stories and feelings by a man who clearly looks back and knows he seized opportunities and went for it. Kenney’s self-deprecating taking of responsibility for his choices was particularly revealing of who this fellow is as a person...admirable.
For any musician and especially those who are lovers of the music coming out of England, this is a must read.
Kudos, Kenney,
Bob :-)

From the voice of a generation: the most highly anticipated autobiography of the year, and the story of a man who wanted The Who to be called The Hair; wanted to be a sculptor, a journalist, a dancer and a graphic designer; became a musician, composer, librettist, fiction writer, literary editor, sailor; drank too much and nearly died; detached from his body in an airplane, on LSD, and nearly died; planned to write his memoir when he was 21; and published this book at 67.
