Lots of funny points. The ending felt rushed.

Totally a goofy story. Sometimes hard to follow. But like any other of the authors books, certain parts are ridiculously funny.

It's too bad that audible has lost of the license and they are replacing them with celebrity narrators. If you were fortunate Knouff to grab Simon Vance ones before they were gone you will know what I mean. If not you will have to go to iTunes or some other third-party service to hunt themdown

Exiled from her home, the beautiful dark elf Liriel Baenre wanders the surface world with her companion Fyodor. But even far from the dark haunts of Menzoberranzan, she is not safe from the vengeance of her archenemy. Even as she and her friend sail the dangerous seas of the Sword Coast, a drow priestess plots a terrible fate for them. And in the depths of the earth, the spider queen Lolth weaves her own webs of terror and treachery.

Disappointed after a good first book

Would you try another book from Elaine Cunningham and/or Dara Rosenberg?
I would try another Elaine Cunningham book but never another book by the narrator.
Has Tangled Webs turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes!
Would you be willing to try another one of Dara Rosenberg’s performances?
Absolutely not. Her performance is not a hideous as the first book where she split sentences in two and mispronounced half of the words, but it is still like nails on a chalkboard. I sense nepotism that she even was hired to read. She ruined an "okay" book.
Could you see Tangled Webs being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Oh hell no. This story went off of the cliff. Far too many disparate parts and a rushed ending.
Any additional comments?
This series had promise with book 1. They should have stayed in the Underdark.

Story
Beautiful as she is deadly, Liriel Baenre flits throught the shadows of Menzoberranzan, city of the dark elves. Amid treachery and murder that are the drow's daily fare, she feels something calling to her...something beyond this dusky world far removed from the sun. Yet as she ventures toward the surface and the lands of light, enemies pursue her unceasingly.

Great book: worst narration ever
Reviewed: 04-18-17
Where does Daughter of the Drow rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I'd have to put this book in the middle range of all of the audio books I have bought. It needs Simon Vance to read it. The story is fresh and interesting but suffers from the narration.
What did you like best about this story?
This is a great drow book—one without the endless whining of Drizzt and his apologetic self loathing and worship of a female human put on so high a pedestal that she should just be crowned a goddess. The dragon was a fun character and the antagonists were passable. What really stands out about this book is the new insight into drow culture that not everyone is ruled by a bitchy high priestess of Lolth.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
While the narrator's voice was clear and bright, her pronunciation was so poor that she destroyed the story. Common words mispronounced endlessly and her cadence was so awful that sentences were chopped in half to create two broken sentences. Then her intonation mangled the story even more, placing the emphasis on all of the wrong parts of each sentence in the story. It was as if she was reading off of a teleprompter that fed words in random chunks. There was no flow at all. This was an abysmal choice of narrators and undoubtedly has crippled sales of the second and third books in this series. More than once I wanted to return this book to Audible except that I have read the (paperback) books years ago. The cover art is as bad as the narration, but don't let that stop you from enjoying this tale, as it fills in much of the world of the underdark in the Forgotten Realms. Perhaps someday it will be re-recorded and worth a fresh listen.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Never trust a friend in the (under)dark.
Any additional comments?
This book really deserves better art and better narration. Elaine Cunningham was treated poorly by the publisher. Her storytelling is a solid B to even B+ on a scale of F to A (standard school grading) and with better cover art and narration this series could double or even triple her sales and open the door to many more underdark adventures.

Why are they taking these off of Audible?

Great book. In Fleming uses the word darling party much and James Bond always reaches for the left breast. Other than that these books show James Bond and a much more human form then the movies, which I have enjoyed, even the not so good ones. Absolutely one of the great modern books to listen to. Simon Vance is amazing.
