The identity comes first: Evie Porter. Once she’s given a name and location by her mysterious boss, Mr. Smith, she learns everything there is to know about the town and the people in it. Then the mark: Ryan Sumner. The last piece of the puzzle is the job. Evie isn’t privy to Mr. Smith’s real identity, but she knows this job isn't like the others. Ryan has gotten under her skin, and she’s starting to envision a different sort of life for herself. But Evie can’t make any mistakes—especially after what happened last time.

Twisted in a good way

This book took a while for me to get into. It’s got a lot of moving parts, and at first it was challenging to follow. After I got used to the author’s style (this is my first read of this author) I was better able to follow. The story is really good and will keep the reader on their toes. Narration was fantastic.

…..did not disappoint! This book is so freakin’ good! I didn’t know what to expect but it’s beautiful, funny, tragic, and twisty. I feel a Hoover binge coming on. Loved it.

Story
What would it be like to live in a well-rested world? Far too many of us have claimed productivity as the cornerstone of success. Brainwashed by capitalism, we subject our bodies and minds to work at an unrealistic, damaging, and machine‑level pace—feeding into the same engine that enslaved millions into brutal labor for its own relentless benefit. In Rest Is Resistance, Tricia Hersey, aka the Nap Bishop, casts an illuminating light on our troubled relationship with rest and how to imagine and dream our way to a future where rest is exalted.

I FEEL SEEN
Reviewed: 02-10-23
This book felt like coming home to a warm blanket and a cup of hot cocoa. It was validating to my unique life choices to prioritize my mental, physical, and emotional health. By uplifting my personal practices of rest, mindfulness, play, stillness, bubble baths, wine, and vacations, I have felt odd until this book. Ms. Hersey’s voice is that of a sister, and beautifully familiar. The book I didn’t know I needed, but certainly did. We all do.
