George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Story
In May 1315 it started to rain. It didn't stop anywhere in north Europe until August. Next came the four coldest winters in a millennium. Two separate animal epidemics killed nearly 80 percent of northern Europe's livestock. Wars between Scotland and England, France and Flanders, and two rival claimants to the Holy Roman Empire destroyed all remaining farmland. After seven years, the combination of lost harvests, warfare, and pestilence would claim six million lives - one eighth of Europe's total population.

Everyone should read at least 3 books on famine. This one is a good start. If you enjoyed the movie Braveheart, this book provides a lot of details and background history. Not as much discussion of the climate changes of the time as I would have expected, but sufficient coverage.

Revealing that AD is not one condition, as it is currently treated, but three, The End of Alzheimer's outlines 36 metabolic factors (micronutrients, hormone levels, sleep) that can trigger "downsizing" in the brain. The protocol shows us how to rebalance these factors using lifestyle modifications like taking B12, eliminating gluten, or improving oral hygiene.

Story
The term Mexican Drug War misleads. It implies that the ongoing bloodbath, which has now killed well over 100,000 people, is an internal Mexican affair. But this diverts attention from the US role in creating and sustaining the carnage. It's not just that Americans buy drugs from and sell weapons to Mexico's murderous cartels. It's that ever since the US prohibited the use and sale of drugs in the early 1900s, it has pressured Mexico into acting as its border enforcer - with increasingly deadly consequences.

US & Mexican Governments are Corrupt
Reviewed: 08-24-22
This was not what I expected. Basically boils down to the insatiable US appetite for drugs to smoke, snort and shoot up. Also hints at the guns and weapons being provided by the US to the cartels. Most politicians and governments are corrupt and there’s lots of money to be made by keeping the current system in place. The narrator was good.

While I loved Dave’s performance, the information and strategies in this book are complex and overwhelming. To simplify, aging well starts with more nutritious eating and more movement, consistency is key. I’m not willing to take hundreds of daily supplements or spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on living well to 180. I’ve chosen a few things to start and maybe implement others in the future.
