Story
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

It’s been many years since I read this book. I decided to listen to it on Audible and was intrigued to see there was an unabridged version. There’s a lot I forgot. There was a lot I remembered. It got me in the heart still. This is one of his best books ever.

I love the actor’s voice and characters. The story was a good one, although I did guess the bad guy early on…but not the reasoning behind actions.
