These box sets of books are a giant rip off of a credit. Part of me hopes that this was written by AI so no real author has to walk around with the shame of creating these books. Don’t do it. Just don’t even start this series. I am 20 books deep and I am still no where closer to any conclusions presented in the first books. It’s maddening. The writing drags on and you find yourself hoping they all just die so it can be over. The books go on and rewrite what happened in the previous books, for example, when Grace is in Jude’s room and Pierre comes in accusing her of being a wizard with a sword to her throat, Jude steps in and attacks Pierre and tells Grace to run. Grace runs……to her room….that is the last we know of until Pierre comes back and presents Grace with Jude’s stone as he is dead. So, in the next book when they reference this scene, it’s totally rewritten. They talk about Jude chasing Pierre and twist what originally happened. The story during is so poor that they mix up using he and she in sentences and names! It’s quite often and pisses me off because it shows me a lack of caring about what is being written. I also don’t find a single character that I do t want dead, they are all awful and you feel zero connection to any of them.

Maybe this didn’t age well?

I have 4 hours left in this book and the main character is starting to feel like a punishment. She is so self centered and pathetic as a human that it’s just not believable that any of the other characters would even like her let alone be on her side and rooting for her. I find myself hoping the author kills them all off. The narration is great, way too much imagery for me in the writing style though. It feels like she had a word requirement for the book and used them all. I find it slow and boring. Hoping it gets to the point of the story or at least stop making Juliet so pathetic.

I went back to this series to re-listen. I had forgotten all of it and there were a couple new books in the series I had not read yet……. This story is painful to get through now. I remember liking it back then but it’s just awful now. I was actually rooting for Anika to be snuffed out. I don’t feel connected to any of the characters so I really didn’t care what happened to any of them and found myself hoping they would all follow Finn into the afterworld.
This is a series’s that did not age well for woman. I had to fast forward through all of the abusive parts and all of the repetitive sex scenes……which left very little content behind. It’s also weird that her husband makes so many immature sexual remarks to her.
The narrator is great! Just not for this series. Come on, it’s a woman’s story, why is a man reading it?
I’m genuinely concerned that so many people read this and left 5 star reviews. This is not a 5 star story.
