Story
One little white lie—that's all it took. Now I'm suddenly having to fake-date my work nemesis to get through a week at a Vermont Christmas lodge with my family. The problem? I can't stand Miles Taylor. Not only that, but I don't date people I work with. But I can handle it. I've had practice faking my emotions for years. So it shouldn't matter that Miles never lets me get away with anything. And that he happens to boil my blood hotter than a steaming pot of wassail. So when he throws his annoying grin my way or forces me on dates he knows I'll hate, I'll just grit my teeth and smile.

Really sweet and funny story! Though I feel like all of these love stories are predictable, I did enjoy the fact that they didn’t have a big fight and then make up at the end. I finished this book in two days, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

When she is invited to attend a house party without her disapproving, overbearing mother, Cora leaps at the chance, desperate to make a match of her own. That is, until she finds that Oliver Cartwell is also attending the party. Oliver, the boy she has loved since she was a girl and the man she is determined to forget.

I Love This Book!
Reviewed: 06-21-24
Great Narration. Another favorite from Joanna Barker! This was everything a Regency romance should be. I loved the main characters. I loved the witty retorts from “saucy Cora”! The connection was amazing.
Jane was determined to give up on her unrequited love for Oliver Cartwell, her best friend’s older brother. After 10 years, she’s decided to move on. The Englefield’s house party is her chance to find love. All is going well until she finds that Oliver is also a guest.
Oliver has always been a flirt and never taken things too seriously. After a recent revelation he’s decided to mend his ways and be more serious about his life. He offers to help Cora find love. The more he is around her though, he’s not so sure he wants her to love anyone but him.
I loved the relationship between the two. Here’s an example of the great banter.
“Better to be prepared in case l grow bored.”
He shook his head with a laugh. “I’ve yet to have a lady in my company grow bored.”
I tipped my head in a challenge. “Let us hope today is not the first time.”
This is a wonderful tale of love and growth. One of my new favorites this year.

Fun and Sweet
Reviewed: 11-16-23
This was a really sweet book. It was my least favorite in the series, but it was a fun read. The female narrator had a habit of ending every sentence with one of three different inflections which was a bit annoying, but the male narrator was really good. It was fun to see how each of the siblings ended up. I hope there are more books about this family.

What she didn't count on - a new baby! She can barely afford her rent, much less a state-of-the-art stroller....

This book was really fun to read/listen to. I liked all the characters, and I was actually somewhat surprised by some of the little twists in there. It was light, but not total fluff, as there was some drama too. The perfect book for someone who needs a good escape from real life. I am definitely glad I chose this book, and I hope the author writes more in the same vein.

I really enjoyed this book! The story was engaging and fun, and I thought it was better than its pre-Qual, Compared. Obviously, you can guess the ending, but getting there had a few surprises. I loved all the activities she thought up for the construction crew to do to waste time.
My only complaint is that the female narrator kind of used two or Three inflections for every sentence. She says most of the sentences with the same inflection, and that can get annoying. The guy was great though!
I recommend this for anyone who wants a sweet, clean, and funny romantic comedy. Can’t wait to read read the next book!

Story
In this hilariously irreverent collection of essays, Jen Mann, nationally best-selling author of People I Want to Punch in the Throat, turns her mordant wit on the holidays. On Mann's naughty list: mothers who go way overboard with their Elf on the Shelf, overzealous carolers who can't take a hint, and people who write their Christmas cards in the third person ("Joyce is enjoying Bunko. Yeah, Joyce, we know you wrote this letter."). And on her nice list...well, she's working on that one.

This book was so much fun! The author narrates in a dry, but funny and relatable tone. Her stories are entertaining, and I laughed out loud at a couple of parts. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys mom blogs, parenting humor, or family fun. Just don’t listen with your family as there are a few four letter words sprinkled in here.

Sophie Kinsella's debut is a romp through the perils of shopping and spending, spending, spending! Becky can't resist a sale, and she's only a little overdrawn on her VISA. Readers will laugh aloud at Becky's retail adventures as she finds new and creative ways to relieve her increasingly credit card debt. Emily Gray's narration bounces along with Becky and her buying whims, while delivering a humorous account of what happens when credit goes bad.

Fun, fluffy, and super cute!! I found the main character very relatable most of the time. I’ve reasoned the exact same way when shopping. The narrator is also fabulous! This is a light, fun, piece of chick lit.

Good, clean, and funny. Yes, there was a lot of talk about poop, but I suppose I would expect nothing less in a book about kids from their father. They were actually some laugh out loud moments in this. Thanks for giving me a reason to smile.

If you like sweet romances, close knit families, soul searching, and plenty of girl talk, you should enjoy this book. Luckily, I do. It was an enjoyable read with just a few little things that annoyed me. There wasn’t anything bad enough to effect my rating though.
The narrator was very good. She read with good feeling and had a good sense of timing. I hope to find more books read by her.
