They did this audio book justice
Reviewed: 07-13-23
I first read this book back in the 1970s and absolutely loved it. I have reread it several times and it will always be a favorite. When I learned it was coming out in audible format I was so excited but concerned that the narration would not be good. But it was great! I bought several other of the audiobooks by this author now to listen to and I hope you will all enjoy them as well.

Story
Dietrich Bonhoeffer is one of the heroes of World War II. Not only did he preach God’s word fearlessly, he spoke and actively resisted the evil of the Nazi regime. Discovered to be one of the people behind the plot to assassinate Hitler, he was arrested and eventually martyred. Today, he is remembered for his writings, including his letters from prison and commentaries. Not long before his death, he was engaged to be married, and this unfulfilled marriage is one of the bittersweet notes to his story.

I absolutely listened to this wonderful book in one day! It was so well done and had a great narrator as well. I didn’t feel anything was missing from this book but it was so much less intimidating than some of the longer ones I considered.
An absolute blessing.

I read this book in paperback years ago, & was delighted to see it in audible format. The narrator did an awesome job and the story spoke to me on an entirely new level. This book is anointed, absolutely. Now I hope her Guardian King series comes out in audible! Karen Hancock is an amazing author. I’ve read everything she’s written to my knowledge. I was concerned the audible version wouldn’t capture the story, but I think it’s even better! Great job.

This was worth every moment I spent listening. I was Completely taken along as the story unfolded. The narrator did a fabulous job. I will look for more books that she has narrated and also for more books this author has written as this was a first for both of them with me. I somehow feel very enriched by this story and it made me look at a lot of things in a different way.

Oh how I love this series! This simply cannot be the end...we need a story about Barclay and the rest. I said it about A Name Unknown, SO Clever and witty, and so beautiful. And The Lord running like a thread throughout the whole thing. I really like the imperfections of the people in The Family and their tenacity and love for each other. And Liz Pearce brings it all to life! II usually like the voices of the characters in my own head when I read a book, but honestly, the experience could not have even come close to how Liz reads this. Brava Liz Pearce! Please Roseanna M. White, give us more!
